Hertl trade

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 16, 2021
Published: Nov. 16, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't even know if the wings have the sort of assets required to acquire a player like Hertl or if it's even worth while yet.

This team though could potentially move the needle from rebuild status to playoff contention.
Trades
DET
  1. Hertl, Tomas
Additional Details:
Is this what San Jose would be looking for?
I can never tell what kind of team they have.
SJS
  1. Berggren, Jonatan
  2. Fabbri, Robby
  3. Veleno, Joseph
  4. 2022 2nd round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Not really sure if this is what they want.
Veleno is looking to be a good middle six centre or top 6 winger.
Berggren is looking to make an impact on the nhl next year and is a nice player.
Fabbri to give them a roster player, they can trade him later or sign him if they want.
A high second round pick in a deep draft.

Since Hertl has a 3 team trade TO clause, I think the odds of DET being 1 of the 3 is really really slim.

I can't see DET making that trade for an upcoming UFA, even if there is an extension tied to it. Cap isn't an issue for DET, so they could just outbid teams for Hertl in July. Gutting prospect depth is not what Steve did in TBL (until they were on the verge of the SCF), so I can't see him doing that here while barely on the verge of a playoff spot.

After looking at Eichel (even with his injury concerns), I think SJS fans are going to be very disappointed in a Hertl trade. The suitors are going to be extremely limited, many are cap strapped, and tons of 1st round picks have been moved already. The best they could hope for is the VGK/Tatar trade, which was a late first, a late 2nd, and a late 3rd. I suspect it'll be even less than that.

Im not sure I can see that happening. Stevie Y is cheap and Hertl wants a contender plus a bunch of money
