prospect swap

Created by: Root
Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 17, 2021
Published: Nov. 17, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
New York Rangers 1st round pick Vitali Kravtsov is in self exile in the KHL. The 21 year-old is playing for Traktor and awaiting a trade.

The Los Angeles Kings 1st round selection, Gabriel Vilardi has struggled to make the team. The 22 year-old is in the AHL and has the NY Post’s Larry Brooks speculating a potential trade.

"The Kings have assigned 22-year-old center Gabriel Vilardi to the AHL. The 11th-overall selection of 2017 would merit interest, perhaps even in a swap for Vitali Kravtsov’s rights," he writes.

Vilardi is a big center, and it is a position of weakness in the Rangers organization prospect pipeline. If the Kings would be willing to make the swap, it could be beneficial for both players and franchises.

Kupari might be a better target.

I would love Kupari, I just think Vilardi is a more realistic (and fairer) match for Krav's value. But if the Kings want to give up Kupari, I'm all for it haha

Neither Kupari or Vilardi are available yet. The team needs to have a good look at: Vilardi, Kupari, Byfield, and Turcotte, until the. you won’t see much movement.

Also do you think Kravtsov would be actually be ok with not being played in the NHL and basically have the exact same issue with the Kings?

Finally Kravtsov could be had for a 2nd, not sure I’d accept that for Kupari or Vilardi.

curious - why could Kravtsov "be had" for a 2nd?
is this on record or just a manifestation of this websites comments section?

He struggled in the NHL, refuses to play in the AHL and Russian factor makes requesting a 1st rounder an impossibility to me.

If he was for sale, maybe. But the Kings have been patient with him. Remember this guy had 1.5 years out on injury. He’s still a prospect the team is high on.

Krava didn't struggle. What happen was.. He was put of the 4th line last year and this year was his coming out party but with Rangers using a lot of there Cap and Krava on his contract year was placed in the AHL so Rangers won't have to offer big $$ for him next year... Krava not being an idiot pretty such said "Yes well now you can trade me" Rangers overplayed their hand with Krava. He's very very talented and insider Darren Dreger has said over 20 teams are intreseted in him.

You can do a simple google search, NHL pundits have guesstimated that his value is close to what the return of Lias Andersson was.

Aside from that, what kind of site do you think you are on? Isn’t the whole point of ACGMs to hear how other fans would judge trade values based on need and past similar trades? If you think you could get a first for Kravtsov, post it. I’m not sure you will find a fan base willing to pay that.

Great I hope they get a first for him, I think it will be closer to a 2nd or a bubble prospect.

Some bloggers was speculating a 2nd back for Krava so you not lying but that was until all the insiders said a high 1st inreturn. These bloggers jump on it fast for "clicks" to make $$ without the full story and thats why a lot of bloggers get trashed in their comment section.

If they can get or have him come back that’s great. But the similarities to this and Lias Andersson are close, if this goes on until the off-season I don’t think anyone would fault Rangers brass for taking a low to mid second.

From the Kings perspective Kupari has outplayed Vilardi while he was on the COVID list. Which is less about confidence in him, and more that another first round pick played his way into his role. Expect this yo-yo to continue as Turcotte and Byfield also go for spots. Once that is done, the Rangers could take a crack at one of these center's

The somewhat “lazy” answer from pundits is to say the return for Krav should be similar to the 2nd Lias brought back- due to similar circumstances…but Krav is bigger, faster, and WAY more talented than Lias. Krav has top line upside…Lias upside most likely mid 6 (although a C). In the end if Krav tears up the KHL- his value might even increase-and NYR would be crazy to give him away. But if he struggles over there I can see the Rangers trying to salvage any value they can…I think Drury will play it like EDM played JP…and that has worked out pretty well

Oh, I agree, I think keeping him is in their best interest honestly. Krav could be a phenom, he could also decide to stay in the KHL and rip it up and go back only if the Rangers pick a team he would like to go to hampering his value. That's why I am reluctant to give up a 1st, it's not his potential, it's his risk of defecting and attitude to not put time in the minors.

But as for what the Kings would give up, I'd say no more than a 2nd as a potential bubble playoff/lottery team and make none of our blue chip prospects available until they have given them a full look and found that they don't fit well on the team.

Krava openly said he'll play for another AHL team and work his way up just not for the Rangers AHL team lol He even said he'll play for the Rangers as well lol Something about the Wolf Pack he dislikes.
