You're asking the Hawks to retain on Flowers plus take on Koskinen's entire cap hit so the oilers can make other TDL moves to not exceed the cap space which to me is worth more then a late 2nd round pick. If you were asking for Flowers straight up with retention then I get the late 2nd pick, but asking the Hawks to also take on Koskinen's cap hit is going to push the Oilers into their 1st round pick versus 2nd.

dont see that happening. not many other contending teams are looking for a goalie... flower leaves for nothing in the summer. your taking an asset you got for free who has been terrible so far and still getting a 2nd rounder. CHI definitely considers this.

you can add another pick or prospect to it to even it out I see it as a fit for both teams.

seeing as Edmonton's pick will be late I think for half retention and taking Russel you can even drop Kemp and the second and make it a first

your not getting a first both are expiring deals so russell really doesnt play into it that much. other than shuffling money and giving MTL a player they can finish the season with.
2nd is the best your going to get and yes will be a mid to late 2nd from any team looking for him as they will all be playoff teams... so that point is kinda pointless.

Every year there are contending teams looking for a goalie and especially a 3 time cup winner, reigning Vezina trophy winner, and battle tested in the playoffs. There will be a market for him hands down and it won't just be the Oilers. It's also up to Flowers who he waives for.

Yes, Flowers started off bad but has returned to form the last 2 games...if that sticks and history has shown it can, it's a 1st all day long

Safin isnt a big loss either he is behind Holloway lavoie and Bourgault any ways.
you might be able to make it a second but I think it would take a first.
Edmonton has to start taking chance now to go for it a 1st rounder wont have an impact for 2-4 years from now.

then you would have thought those same team would have done that with vegas as well but yet they gave him to you for nothing. The fact Flower gets to choose where he goes diminishes your chance at a 1st

And those teams and fans might have thought you they had a #1 goalie only by the TDL they realized that #1 goalie isn't a guy who's going to win a cup. Welcome to the reason trades take place at the TDL so your comment isn't really a worth point of view

as to what we have now in Ryan or mcloed as options at 3C Who cant hit cant score cant keep the puck out of their net sure they can skate but they dont accomplish much....
Yes hes a rental and could retire like many players who are aquired at the deadline for 1st. with salary retention... hey we gave 2 2nd for AA Carter is much better than that...

Carter is done. The stats I posted should make that obvious. He's on ice for 4.30 GA/60 despite heavy offensive zone starts. That's exactly the opposite of what Edmonton needs. McLeod is on ice for just 2.30 GA/60.

    He's not worth a 3rd let alone a 1st.

LMAO you're right, Koskinen is hands down a better goalie! Why would I ever think the guy with 893 games played in his career, 3 time cup champion and Vezina trophy winner last year would be better then then a guy a few years younger and 134 career games and no trophies...oh silly me! laugh
