Leafs won't pay that. He's a good player, and I'm sure another team will pay that price, but the Leafs have a ton of guys they need to worry about like Campbell and Kase. Not sure if they'll have the cap space, let alone the space to squeeze in JT Miller at like 8M

Why trade EP if your rebuilding? He's a number 1 center that just turn 22 five days ago.

If you add 2 firsts with OEL, then maybe the Bruins should send back a 3rd.

Top6 and goaltending, yes. Bottom-6 is mediocre and the defense is bad.

Bottom 6 is not so difficult to fix, especially with a new coach everything can easily change. The only thing they need is a decent top 4 RD that can play defensively, the rest of the squad looks good.

If you're rebuilding, I wouldn't trade your franchise centre in Elias Pettersson, or a very good young player in Garland.

Tbh bottom 6 isn't that bad.

Podkolzin-Dickinson-Garland is a pretty good third line.

Motte-whoever-Highmore is a decent 4th too. Really it's our top 6 aside from Hoglander and Miller that has sucked b

He sure doesn't look like a number 1, let alone franchise center these days.

Ur gonna let a 15 game sample decide his fate? What about the last 3 years.

Presumably these are deadline or offseason trades so 2/3 or a full season of this.

Regardless, Petey wasn't very good at driving play last year then spent the rest of the year injured.

The worrisome part about his play this year is he just looks straight up lost. He gets the puck then has no idea what to do with it. Usually either does a couple of dangles or throws it off to Miller.

I would be sort of ok if he was at least playing well defensively and back checking hard but he's not. He looks totally disengaged out there.

Also, at 7+ mil after complaining about wanting to be on a contender, you lose a lot of good faith when your slumping compared to being on an ELC.

I know exactly who EP is and that's why I say thanks but no thanks. I would rather take that pick and draft a centre rather than give up a potential top pairing defenceman and a pick for a player than might be better. I haven't liked his play for the last two years personally.

Your concerned that “he looks lost”, which is the part of his game im least worried about, players don’t one day just forget how to play hockey. He missed training camp and a large potion of last season, add to that he is coming off an injury, who knows maybe he’s lacking confidence at the moment or overthinking things, but that will turn around.
There would be a lot of bargains out there if NHL teams traded there franchise players after poor 20 game stretches.
