My thoughts on future

Created by: DollaBillaz
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 18, 2021
Published: Nov. 18, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My predictions with this:
- Fiala doesn't warrant a first in a strong draft so get high second round pick from NJ + cheap controllable players to fill out bottom six. Used this trade from previous threads seen.
- I think we could get lucky to get high third round pick for Greenway. Arizona may be forced to use abundance of picks to get to cap floor.
- Guerin can use extra 2nd and 3rd to maybe move back into first round.
- Maybe trade for a LD but I don't think there's many upcoming UFA LDs to sign long-term so just stick with Goligoski for one more year.
- Would Guerin be interested in POJ? I heard he may be available. Don't know if he had much involvement with drafting him to pick. I think we have an abundance of young wingers that we should look to move for a young NHL ready defenceman instead since our LHD prospects are 1-2 years out still.
- I think Dumba will take the same contract 5/30M to stay in Minnesota. Same salary as before and as Bredin while they're contracts expire together.

Stop posting this **** with New Jersey, because then New Jersey fans think this is legit. If you don't know Fiala's value just leave your opinion at the door.

Arizona is going to be the cap dumping grounds again next offseason, no way they’re giving up the 1st pick in the 3rd round, they won’t need to

You don't think Fiala warrants a first? He hasn't shown up on the score sheet as much this year, but he's been severely snake bitten. We've seen that when he gets hot, he is scorching. I still think he's a great first line player and probably the 3rd most skilled player we've had in franchise history behind Kaprizov and Gaborik.

I'd be asking for a much better return from New Jersey. I would be so pissed if we made that trade.

Edit: I also hate the Beckman trade. I think he'll be a really good middle 6 forward for us and the players (especially Foligno) seem to love the kid

you have to realize the market for Fiala may not be large... if that's a top 40-45 pick I think its good value in this draft. How many teams do you think are lining up to give premium assets and then pay unpredictable Fiala?

That doesn't mean a mid 2nd and two fourth liners is a good return.

I think were all bound to be dissapointed in the Fiala trade unless he's a part of a package for a top 6 C. But I think at this point our future top 6 C is Rossi.

If you're trading a talented top 6 winger like Fiala you better get a better prospect. No matter how good the draft is, picks are still just a chance at a young kid developing into what Fiala is and maybe develop into something better.

Do you know that Adam Beckman had way more value than that right? Minnesota doesn't need a d prospect. Also fiala will get more value than that. Have no idea with some of these proposals by you especially whether they are serious, or not

Boqvist and Kuokkanen are pretty good young players. But guys like Holtz, Mercer never get traded, certainly not for players with unclear contract situations. So maybe a guy like Nolan Foote…but I think Wild would be better off with Kuokkanen over long term.

Honest answer? Hischier. But I think New Jersey declines that since Fiala's contract situation makes a Hischier trade lopsided with Hischier locked up for a while. We need a top 6 center, and the the top 6 centers New Jersey has don't really make sense for the Devils to deal for Fiala.

Basically what he said, but I would be happy with Mercer as the player coming back. Very promising with 2 more seasons after this one on an ELC could sure be helpful for the Wild's cap situation.

I don't really agree, I think they're similar players but Fiala is a lot better when he's hot but worse when he's in a slump. From what I've seen, Hischier is just a more consistent player.

Ages 19-23:

Hischier:
244 games, 59 goals, 155 points, .6352 ppg, ATOI 17:36, 2.17 p/60

Fiala:
286 games, 71 goals, 158 points, .5524 ppg, ATOI 15:00, 2.21 p/60

Hischier is a center and he's younger so you can add some value there, but overall they've been similar players on the score sheet at the same ages. Fiala also broke his leg during that time span and really struggled when he came back from the injury. It took him about a year or so to find his game again.

Yeah so Nico is better offensively and defensively, younger, has more value and is a center
Not sure how you disagree

Their stats are nearly identical on paper throughout their first five years in the league. Fiala has also been a much better player the past couple years while Hischier has struggled. Hischier is almost 23, Fiala is 25, so it's not like there's a huge age gap between them.

Fiala is also playing on a better team and with better linemates
If you really think Fiala is better than Nico, go ahead and keep him.

I'm happy keeping Fiala. You asked me what I would want from the Devils if they wanted him and I answered.

You're only half right. Fiala is definitely playing on a better team, yes. That is true. But on aggregate, he's played with worse linemates than Hischier. So that part simply isn't true.

Unless... You're saying that Hischier has also been playing with 3rd and 4th line type players the last couple of seasons on average too? Because the only way Hischier could have been playing with lesser linemates is if he had legitimate AHL'ers on his line for that entire period of time. Somehow, I don't and can't believe that's the case.
