I saw the title and the teams and immediately guessed who they were, which should give you a good idea of how similar they are. I do think Girard’s value is higher though, just because of his peak in production last season. It’s interesting that they were 6 picks apart from each other in the 2016 draft and have similar production over their careers as a whole (Hronek actually has a higher career ppg if you didn’t know).
I know the second question after this is probably “Would Hronek and (unnamed asset) be enough for Girard?”, and while the answer would probably be “Yes, I believe so” I wouldn’t do the trade. It’s a better idea to add to our defense instead of just swapping players. Good comparison, though.

It’s just harder to find a RD than a LD that’s why I wouldn’t do it if I’m Detroit

Not sure if you read the description, but side by side they are remarkably similar. I acknowledge that Girard is slightly better, but not by much. He also benefits from playing on a significantly better team.
The point was not to propose a swap of the 2, but rather to point out how close their value should be. People seem to think that Girards value is sky high, while Hronek isn't worth much at all. I hope that Girard gets traded, and traded for a lot. I would love to move Hronek at some point, and use the Girard trade as a comparable.

Yeah, I didn’t read the description this time, thanks for pointing it out. I just saw that I guessed the two players and rushed to the comments lol. That’s a good idea too, I’ve seen similar sentiments and it would be nice for Hronek to get some more recognition for what he does.

Part of Girard's value comes from him having five more years on his deal, and also from the fact that Colorado has no incentive to move him. I would think the latter would be similar for Hronek and Detroit.
Not sure who think Hronek doesn't have much value or why they think that. I guess maybe I need to read more Detroit posts. I'll say this though, if some turd writer throws out his name on a whim and makes it seem like he's available, this site would go nuts and you'd see some high valuations, lol. It's just how it goes.
It would be interesting to see hronek in Colorado. Hes such a different, more effective player when the wings play up tempo hockey and not the crawl and dump that blashill loves to go to.
