I’m sure the preds will get better deals than that without retaining

Conditional picks based on a player re-signing aren't allowed anymore. A 1st and 2nd is coming in too low on a retained Forsberg anyway though.

what would be a more reasonable deal; how far off am i? does a lower pick or prospect get it done, or are talking maybe another 1st or 2nd?

It would look more like Amirov, 1st, 2nd/3rd which might be conditioned on getting through the first round of playoffs. 3rd becomes a 2nd type deal. Even then, the fact that you need retention will hurt. There will be teams who don’t need the retention and NSH isn’t a team in a position to be buying picks.

This is much more reasonable. I'd also be down with something like TOR's 2022 1st, 2023 conditional 2nd (becomes a 2023 1st if TOR advances past the 2nd round), and Knies for Forsberg retained (NSH can also add one of they're other rentals like Cousins, Benning, Rittich, etc based on TOR's needs at the deadline.
