IDK, it’d be great to have all these guys but you’d have to pay quite a bit more for all of them. Not one blue chip prospect moving to get all of these guys? And 4 mil retained over 3 years on Kane itself is worth a first…

I believe that the Fiala trade has been discussed deeply in those ACGMs mentioned. The conclusion pretty much was that the Wild decline, since we are only getting a meh package with no game-breaking picks/prospects coming back.

Leafs arent doing that. We arent trading another first round pick for a rental, especially one that is going to cost 4.5 million dollars to play on the third pair. Not only that, but Mikheyev, albeit a tad snake bitten right now, is an effective defensive forward that can drive some offense and is going to slot into the lineup when healthy.

Sheesh, the Kane trade was a gift.

I purposely selected ACGM deals that I saw as favorable to NJD. I expect none of this to happen. But its fun.

Some of the Wild offers were for less! But I hear you. If he signs extension (or willing to sign with acquiring team), I think there needs to be a 1st or better prospect included (or both). But if he just wants to sign QO and go to UFA, than these prices make sense. Timing the whole thing will be tricky for Billy G to maximize return.

For sure. 100% agree. A Subban-to-Leafs trade would likely be Subban (at 25%, double-retained) for B prospect and 2nd/3rd (depending who pays for third team to retain 25%). I had liked Subban (at 25%) for Mike Koster and 2023 2nd (NJD sends 4th to third team).

At trade deadline, there is only 20% of season left. So his cap hit, since he is on final year, is manageable.

Subban at 100% - $9,000,000 hit
Subban at 50% - $4,500,000 hit
Subban at 25% - $2,250,000 hit
Subban at 25% at deadline - $450,000 hit

Even if he doesn't he will get a 1st. Good young players like FIALA always get a 1st , so you are wrong about that

If Fiala signs (or willing to sign) multi-year extension, sure, should absolutely return a 1st rounder. But if Fiala signs QO or 1-year deal, his value goes down. Could still get a 1st from contender at deadline. But I doubt Wild will be sellers at 2023 deadline. And if they could fit him into their budget on day 1, it seems likely they would be able to fit him for whole season. But if MIN wants to move him before start of 2022-23 season (to clear cap space).... may be harder to find a 1st.

I think the timing is key.

The off-season doesn't change a thing. Rasmus r just got a 1st. Teams will always give away 1st round pick for player's of Fiala quality. Doesn't matter if they have a year , or 6 month. We have seen it happen

1st rounders are rarely traded at beginning if cycle. They are almost all dealt just before draft or at deadline (and in some years before expansion draft). Risto was traded at 2021 draft (for a 2021 pick).

So you would be looking at 2022 draft picks. Not 2023 draft picks. That makes the calendar tricky.

Jan 1: First day Fiala can sign extension.
March 21: 2021-22 Trade deadline
June 30: Last day of playoffs
July 8: 2022 NHL draft
July 11: Deadline for teams to make qualifying offer
July 13: Free agency window opens

So he would likely need to be traded between June 30-July 8 (which is before he has gotten a qualifying offer). If he wants a bigger deal (or to go to UFA sooner to get bigger deal), he will have not signed an extension during the 2021-22 season. That means that MIN will almost guaranteed to be trading the players rights and not a fully signed player. Can be a challenge to getting full price.

The comps to use are probably
(1) Sam Reinhart
(2) Pavel Buchnevich

Pavel b was trades for other reason. And everyone was like Rangers could have gotten a better offer. What you are forgetting is wild Don't need to get rid of Donaldson in the offseason. They can at deadline. No matter what a gm out there will pay 1st round pick. No, you should use Rasmus also because there's a gm who will always pay for player of Fiala's skill.

Who is Donaldson?

And read the post above...Wild have a window between June 30-July 8 to trade Fiala's rights. Before that would be selling at this year's deadline and making team less competitive for playoffs. Later would mean a lesser return.

According to you? You just want to say something that has no bases to it. Sorry a player getting traded with less time doesn't reduce their standing, or cost

I suggest you familiarize yourself with the rules and customs of the league before having internet debates about the rules and customs of the league. A players term (how many years their contract covers) has huge impact on trade value. Whether a player is under contract or not also has a huge impact on trade value.

Risto also got a 1st+ and is very similar to PK in terms of playing style, contract, and stats. PK is better defensively and is cheaper (after Devils retain 50%)

Hence why I said Reinhart is probably the comp to use. I think Fiala’s price ends up somewhere between the Reinhart and Buchnevich deals. But I wouldn’t expect a 1st and an A prospect.

You need to add Jack Hughes to make the hawks deal work

I’m kidding don’t worry but still you need much more then that to get Kane
