It's not a bad way to spend the money, but if you get Robertson out of NY, you gotta figure that Perunovich or him would be able to take a top 4 role at some point. Not sure if the Blues should have $26m tied up in aging d-men for the next 5+ seasons. But at the same time, that's the way Army has gone about building the team so it is realistic IMO. I really don't think he cares about 2027-28 or whenever the wheels will ultimately fall off.

Personally, I think the approach should be to find an opportunistic deal a la the Buchnevich trade and spend the money on guys age 23-26 and contracts that aren't as risky (i.e. the ones that go til the player is 35+, we already have too many).

I think if a defenseman is included in the the deal it should Schneider. Blues could use that RHD in their pool and I'm not sold on Kessel being that guy

NYR gonna have a ton of cap problems next season, no way they can fit this let alone what an overpay it is

I agree, however, if they didn’t want to move Schneider in an Eichel deal, I don’t think they even consider it for Tarasenko. Would most definitely have to take Kravtsov out of the deal in that case.

Robertson and a 1st is a good start, but the Kravstov piece needs an upgrade of some sort.

We could have that conversation but I don't think Kravtsov has as much value as people think right now. He has about the same value as Andersen did when he got traded which is about a 2nd rounder. There's something to this deal though
