That would be such a dumb move from any team doing that unless they’re almost a shoe in for the cup

Dillon has term so maybe a second and something else.

It has become obvious in the games vs Winnipeg that the Oilers very much need a D like him.

I mean Tampa gave it up for Savard who has played similarly to Chiarot over the past 3 years. I'm not saying I agree with it, but it happens every deadline.

I'm not very high on Chiarot's value, and while I can see him getting a first rounder back, that's only after seeing Savard get one last trade deadline. I don't think he's actually worth anything more than a second rounder at best, but that's just my opinion. He'll somehow still get traded for a first rounder at the deadline anyway by a GM going too far though, so I can agree with that.

Even Friedman states he'll fetch Montreal a 1st round pick, his name being butchered is annoying but low ball offers are much more frustrating.

Exhibit A: Players who fetched first round picks at trade deadline lately; Savard, Foligno, Coleman, Goodrow.
Exhibit B: He's better than them, he'll get a first.

Dillon deal is a good comp. Potential for a flooded LD market is why I'd be pretty doubtful on a 1st, but a 2nd+3rd (or so/so prospect) makes sense.

I’m not sure any other team beside Tampa offered a 1st for Savard, Goodrow and Coleman. Don’t u think had other teams offered that, the teams trading those players would choose to trade them to those other teams instead of Tampa? Since those 1st are more likely to be higher than Tampa’s 1st?

Like I get what you're saying but people seem to forget Savard, Foligno, Goodrow, Coleman all fetched firsts and people also hate on Chiarot too much, he doesn't suck he's a solid top 4 option, he's just used way too much.

Well yes it would have to be a serious contender no fringe playoff team is giving up a first for a pure rental.

I know they all fetched firsts but three of those four were Brisebois overpaying to make sure he got his guy. Chiarot is a fine player, that's for sure, but he's not a prime rental and he shouldn't get a prime rental return.

If I’m a contender I’d rather trade my first ++ for JT Miller than trade just a 1st for Chiarot

There's no point of arguing further, I myself wouldn't want the leafs to give up a 1st for him, like I get what you are saying you guys could be right about the Tampa thing. I don't think he necessarily deserves it so much as I just think it will happen based off what we've seen at previous deadlines.

Toronto gave a boatload for a washed up Foligno, there's your example. TDL is a crazy time of the year and GMs are moving against the clock, someone will pay every time.

If these guys were all such overpayment as rentals ... Why are their contracts adding up to 12.5M$ on multiyear deals? I guess they all got overpaid again and they'll all be incredibly bad contract OR they're just good and GMs know values of picks more than us?

Nah Montreal plays him like 23+ minutes a night, he’s a fine #4 guy play him 18-20 minutes a game.
