Description
Im looking to gauge interest on what it would cost a team to not only trade for but also for nashville to potentially move duchene. Im a bruins fan so ill set up the trade to bruins but this goes for any team. What do you think it would cost to move/acquire duchene right now?

If Nashville would consider retaining 1-2 mil (I highly doubt it though for 5 years) Montreal needs a center and might be willing to move say Toffoli + prospect for Duchense (retained) + 2nd otherwise maybe Toffoli + Byron for money to work

Duchene is NSH's hottest player right now. I can't see them entertaining a proposal to ship him out for a pile of cap dumps.

Duchene's been a PPG player this season. Just don't see a point in selling him light at this point, although should he start to flop again now would be a perfect time to capitalize on the value that guy has provided...hard to say honestly what it takes. The offer can't be one that'd break the bank for the receiving team, but for Preds that offer also have to be so good they just can't decline.

If Nashville retained 2 mill, I think he could bring back a 1st , B prospect and 2 short small cap dumps (Haula and Moore)

To boston tho?

NSH would definitely have to take back Coyle

Didn't seem a fit ultimately

That's just a really weak offer. The B's will remain a 1 1/2 line team.

The guy has like 5 of 6 years left though. I wouldn't bother retaining that much for that long for a player with actual value. At that point there'd likely be more value for Preds to just keep the player themselves imo.

despite struggles in recent years, He's been a P/GP player for NSH. Sure the $8 million a year hit is a lot, but its going to take more quality than that to land him.

i get that i also cant see any team looking at his last 2 years and his contract and saying "hes worth a major haul" either. debrusk a 2nd and a 3rd... moore and wagner are simply to make money work.

do you think it makes more sense for nashville to hold duchene and see if he can keep it up into middle of next year and potentially sell then?

Coyles ntc makes this a little more difficult. really why i threw a lowball offer of moore/wagner/debrusk in there. i just dont know what it would take ON TOP of the above to make the move for really either team. I kinda like the idea of duchene with hall.

Thats why i asked what his perceived value would be around the league. On one hand you have a guy thats put up: 71 in 117 which looks pretty good but then you take last year and how hes really only been a 50 point center for most of his career. I think last year hurts his value as much as this year helps rebuild it. but hes got term and aav its really one of those how do the preds see him long term? would they be willing to take a little less to get out of the contract?

I think Nashville should wait and see if they are a playoff team before selling anyone off. The western conference is kind of wide open right now.

I mean probably. thats why i asked what people thought his value would be. I dont think the bruins should overpay for the guy, this is a bit of an underpayment i recognize that but idk how much more or where to add. you arent decimating the farm for him. sending a 1st this year doesnt make a boatload of sense from the sending teams perspective with the loaded draft and looking at his last few years of play.

Truly think the preds end up 6th or 7th within their own conference. Aves wont be that low, and i think the stars have a better team than their record shows at this moment. Chicago is another team that i think their record doesnt exactly reflect their roster.

The problem with those teams is they have a lot of catching up to do, especially Chicago.

Here is how I see the west setting up

Central

1. Winnipeg
2. Colorado
3. St. Louis

4. Nashville
5. Dallas

Pacific

1. Vegas
2. Calgary
3. Edmonton

4. Anaheim
5 L.A.

I think Nashville and Anaheim endup in the WC spots

Yeah, I can't see anyone giving NSH much value for Duchene yet, but there's no reason for them to move him. NSH doesn't have any cap issues for the foreseeable future, and Duchene has been playing so well for them this season. Losing him for a couple draft picks and taking on three overpaid players doesn't make much sense for the them. The most value Duchene can provide the Preds right now is on the ice, not as a trade chip.
