I think Holloway will be in the lineup before Lavoie. Lavoie might need another AHL season based on early results. Foegele and Holloway both play both wings, so they can do either third line wing. With McLeod that would be a nice line.

Little light on jp contract. I see him getting between 6-7. Hyman and nuge signed for just over 5 but jp is bigger skates better and has a better shot then both of them and is younger.

Despite all those advantages he isn't getting better results than Nugent-Hopkins. That should count for more than anything.

Shown better finishing ability than nuge this year. Jp also gets less top pp opportunities. If can get him locked in at a similar figure would be amazing I’m just not sure it’s realistic. Jp history with the team also should be taken into account he didn’t have to come back here and I doubt too many would blame him if he didn’t. He signed a cheap 2 year deal so he’s already done the organization a big favour I’m not saying that means we give him a blank check book but pay him fairly. I really think it’s going to come in at around 6.25ish and will Very quickly look like a bargain contract. I absolutely love his game and don’t see any weakness just an all round game continuing to evolve.

I love the player too, but consider this: in his first 11 games he scored 6-7-13, since then in 6 games he's scored 0-1-1.

I'd wait and see what the year brings before projecting his next contract. It could go either way.

But regardless of the deserving AAV, I'd sign him for 5+ years just because I love everything about his game even when he isn't producing. The AAV hangs on his production, which is still to be determined.
