I hate Lou

Description
Dont trade away elite defenseman. Protect Eberle. Dont sign Palmieri. Dont sign Parise. This team is cup favorites. Instead we have no depth and no scoring and no 2LD. Pulock healthy would put him with pelech, move Dobson to 3rd pair and rotate with Salo and Greene to keep everyone fresh. Pulock would go PP1 and Dobson would replace Salo at PP2. PK1 would have Pulock and move Mayfield to PK2 and take out Salo (even tho hes good enough for it and 21+ mins a night).

agreed lou is very over rated imo but im also a rangers fan. Toews is also one of the best contracts in the league.

Toews was handled correctly considering the trickle down it had. Don't know what value could have been had for Leddy at the time, we may have had to pay to get rid of him. Lou didn't want to trade Toews, who could have predicted a pandemic shutting down the world?

Those picks, coupled with the Leddy deal, gave Lou the ammo to shed Ladd and draft Raty. It was worth it.

Lou can be held accountable for not replacing Leddy with Chara rather than a puck mover. But his past two offseasons have been more than respectable.

no, it wasn’t worth it lol. moving toews only to move leddy the very next offseason was dumb. you hold on to the better, younger and cheaper player even if the return for the other one is lower. the trickle down it had only makes it look worse in retrospect.

that said, i have zero problem with parise and how he’s been playing. we’re paying him league minimum and he’s clearly putting in the work and playing solid defense while also generating some chances. hasn’t been able to finish, but a net positive as compared to what we had before.

I don't really blame Lou for Eberle, the Isles are a depth team, you're GOING to lose talent in an expansion draft. I'd have rather have lost Palmieri or Bailey (better yet, not sign Palmieri at all, this already looks like an awful contract), but if Seattle wants a good winger, they'll get one.

I agree on Toews. I'd have rather have lost picks keeping a stud young defenseman than hold on to those picks only to pick up a depth winger. That said, keeping Leddy at the time was a good move, he had a great year for us last year.

As for Parise, he's been a great signing. He's a positive influence on his line and makes league minimum. What's not to like?

Currently, the problem's been Trotz. He really want to run an all veteran team and thinks none of them will be too slow or tired to win a Cup. It's obvious Wahlstrom, Dobson and Sorokin are the future and it's frustrating to see Trotz avoid the writing on the wall.
