Canucks are not moving Miller

Boeser is on the block but he’s been on the trade block for years and nothing has happened

Anyway, Miller is worth more than that and the Canucks decline

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I like Fiala as a player and when he's hot there's nobody better than him (like before and in the bubble), but the Canucks don't need wingers. We need centers and RHDs.

I really hope that if any major pieces are moved, that JB isn't around to be the one making them.
If they do trade Miller they better be shopping him around the league for the best return.

Well I don't mind this trade, don't love it. Is JT Miller a legit top 6C? I know he is a good wing.
Now what does Billy do about the Goaltending?

Proposal is from the article. I don't think this is completely terrible for the Canucks, Vancouver fans should know better than anyone how good Fiala can be when he's hot, but there is already a logjam at wing and this trade doesn't help that. Benning would be smart to look for an upgrade at RD, but I don't think he'll get that from the Wild.

I like the thought of adding Miller, but moving out Fiala to do so seems counterproductive. By mid January Minnesota will have enough accrued cap space to add Miller’s salary. At that point, if they still consider themselves “contenders” then trade picks/prospects to add Miller without subtracting from the current roster. Make a legitimate run at a Cup this spring. Move Fiala and Greenway in the summer to recoup the picks.

Fiala (and probably Greenway) is likely on his way out this offseason anyways. Even as a winger Miller is at worst as good as Fiala so while I have my own doubts about his ability to play center this is still an upgrade and makes us a better team. I think Guerin learned that Greenway is a replaceable player when he was injured.

I agree Fiala and Greenway are both probably on their way out this summer. WAIT UNTIL THEN. Add Miller in season for futures.

The lineup is a lot scarier if you add without subtracting. You can recoup the picks when you move Fiala and Greenway this summer.

The article doesn't really have any insider info, it's pure speculation really.

I wouldn't put it past JB but moving Miller for Fiala would be extremely dumb.

This lineup does look great and while I agree it would be better to have both Fiala and Miller in the top 6, I think moving Fiala for picks in the offseason is easier said than done in a flat cap world especially when Fiala was asking for Kaprizov money for his extension last year. The situation between Dean and Fiala has also seemed a lot worse as of late and it may be best to cut ties asap.

I mean the article pretty clearly states the Wild called about Miller, I'd say that's insider info, but that's about all it offers outside of speculation. It's no secret Guerin is willing to move Fiala so the article doesn't offer any insight there. It also doesn't indicate whether or not Benning is interested in Fiala and maybe he isn't. Fiala has the ability to be a near point per game player, he's younger than Miller, and he's an RFA which gives the Canucks more control over his long-term future. I do agree that this wouldn't be the smartest move for the Canucks though given their huge need on defense and surplus of wingers. Plus Miller is probably their best forward right now...
