    Leafs aren’t trading Matthews.

What? What does that have to do with line combos?

If he comes retained I'd do that.

In this case, the Leafs have 1.7m in cap space and a 22 man roster. Why is it necessary to trade 1.5 Dermot, an NHL Dman, without replacing him on the roster?
1.5m years of of 2.4m Ritchie costs the Leafs more than a 3rd rounder.
Canucks might get more for Miller from some team, but don't think the Leafs should offer more

Canucks have no leverage in a trade. Dubas will fleece Benning

That’s true it would be nice to keep dermott for injury insurance, I don’t think Nick Ritchie has negative value especially to the coyotes who need more nhl players and could flip him, I sent him and the 3rd for Arizona to retain on Miller I doubt the canucks would want to retain

Ritchie is not tradeable with that contract. Sure Coyotes need more NHLers, but Ritchie isn't really one

I'd do it. Might have to send Kerfoot (though he actually has value so the pick would probably go down in this case, or if the canucks don't want him he can go to another team), Ritchie, Mrazek, etc back as well to make the cap work but I think that's a move the leafs should do.
