My take on this

Created by: EccE
Team: 2021-22 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 23, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
JT Miller - there are two ways to look at him. Either he is the greatest player since the Sedins (and you definitely overrate him as a Canucks fan) or he is a great top6 winger who can chip in as a C if necessary. 70 points is nothing to laugh at, but does anyone remember if he was a winger or a center during that year? I recall him being a winger. Miller is the greatest 2nd line luxury you can have, but I wouldn't be talking about a 1st line caliber player. The three 1st round picks -nonsense from Canucks fans baffles me.

Anyway, Fiala has been rumored to go the other way and it kinda makes sense. BUT if we hold on to him, we could make a run with Fiala AND Miller in the lineup. This team would be 10x scarier. If we need to trade Fiala, we'll do it at the draft in order to get back the picks we lost acquiring Miller.

Some money definitely needs to be going to VAN, but with Spurgeon likely ending up on LTIR, we don't need to send a sizeable contract like Fiala.
Trades
MIN
  1. Costmar, Arvid [Reserve List]
  2. Miller, J.T.
Additional Details:
Judd Brackett knows Vancouver's prospect pool pretty well since he was the one who built it. If Guerin can get a low-profile prospect that Brackett likes added to the package, we might get a steal. Costmar was a 7th round pick and is pretty much a placeholder here.
VAN
  1. Greenway, Jordan
  2. Johansson, Filip [Reserve List]
  3. 2022 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
***If the Wild miss playoffs, the pick transfers to 2023 instead***

Imagine Greenway doing the dirty work and getting the puck to Pettersson. There's some potential there...

I've read that VAN wants some RD prospects, but Nucks fans can stop dreaming: Calen Addison is a no-go. Johansson does have 1st round pedigree, for what it's worth.

The Wild called about him, not the Canucks so you're gonna have to do better than that. Blake Coleman got more of a return

Yep, I figured that much. But I wanted to construct a baseline for the trade without including Fiala. What would you add to make it fair?

If you're gonna say every half-decent prospect is untouchable there isn't a deal to be made

The Wild are 1st in their division and 3rd in the entire West, yet their fans feel a need for protecting their 1st rounders. Ah, the pessimism.

The only untouchables are the true blue-chippers like Rossi, Boldy, Addison, and Wallstedt. We weren't ready to move them for Eichel, let alone Miller. The rest can be negotiated.

Very true. My deepest condolences. Being a Leafs fan is like having a full-time job that you pay for.

I can understand Minny wanting top 6 help.
Greenway is a 3rd wheel & certainly isn’t Hyman. Miller fills need at C NOW.
The fact that Miller is very versatile & playing at a very high level makes this package watered down. Not one part of it offers the Canucks a need. Top 4 RHD or a young good C. Pass

Not interested in the players you have coming the other way.

There's other teams that would offer more for Miller.
