I believe if Minnesota wants to add Miller, they should do so without subtracting from this year’s roster.
AZ GM Bill Armstrong said last week in an interview with the Athletic, he wants to help broker trades by eating salaries in exchange for draft capital.
I still don’t think MN is a true contender. Giving up too many goals. Too many come from behind wins. I wouldn’t make a move like this until January at the earliest. At least wait to see how we are when Spurgeon returns from injury.
I know VAN fans will poo-poo the value. For simplicity sake, I just made it similar to the price paid to acquire Miller from TB.
Rentals all the time get traded at the deadline for a 1st round pick. JT Miller isn’t even a rental and he’s at a PPG the last few years. Ain’t no way he’s not returning a B+ prospect , a young top 9F and a 1st round pick at the very least
I’m not gonna touch the value, since that’s being argued over on every other thread here. But I’m in agreement that if we were to trade for JT, I’d try and keep Fiala. If you’re gonna try and make a playoff run, he’s a player I want on the team. Recoup futures during the offseason by dealing him then.
That said, I think we should pump the brakes until after the new year. We’ve been letting up a lot of goals, and I really don’t see us vaulting into contender status by adding Miller. It feels premature to make a significant move.

I tried to address the value in my description. I don’t think a 1st and 3rd is proper value. I just didn’t want to debate about perceived values with biased fans (myself included). Was more focused on getting Miller at half price.
