You want a top 6 forward in Toffoli for a 2nd and prospect. Its a small sample size of Foote in the NHL & AHL. Montreal leans towards declining.

Would need to be a good prospect and not Zacha. Meier is a ****ing beast who (as a lot of sharks fans have been saying) was just in a slump. I get the QO thing but he’s worth a lot right now.

But Meier has taken off in terms of production this season and given our holes in our Top 6, we're gonna need more from your end (like Johnsson or Sharangovich and a mid-round draft pick on top of Zacha) to make this trade a possibility.

I like the Pavelski signing. We need someone who can shoot the puck close (and on tips). And, as you said, adding a vet could be beneficial.

San Jose wouldn't ever consider this, Meier has been one of the absolute best players in the league this year. Would be an idiotic move to trade him away for Zacha and a middle 1st.

Why are the Devils trading for a guy who's regressed every year and now is off to a hot start

Plus Zacha is significantly cheaper while improving every year
