In a hypothetical Draisaitl trade, I'd expect at least one of Laffy or Kakko to be involved. That's a good package though, if the Oilers were in a different situation there's a possibility they'd consider moving him, but I still don't think that's enough for a top 3 player in the world on a bargain contract.

That would not do it. And dump Nemeth elsewhere, B’s have enough 3rd pair d men, don’t need more.

Hahaha a good middle 6 UFA center who wasn’t great in Edmonton his last go-around and 6 mediocre pieces for a top 3 player on the planet with a great contract.

Not exaggerating but one of the worst proposals I’ve seen in a few weeks here.

As an oilers fan of Leon became available for whatever reason I think that’s somewhat reasonable offer.

No! This was horrible. He is the point leader and scoring leader while on a great deal he is worth more than McDavid. He would cost Shestyrokin, Laf, Kravtsov, Lundqvist+ 3 1st rounders and even that might not be enough. Guy is still too underrated whatever he does sadly. I would never trade him unless I got a massive package. This deal here was a fleezing. Connor would cry himself to sleep where this to happen. At least give us something useful. Strome has already failed here don’t wanna see it twice then him leaving for nothing at FA

I get where your coming from and agree that trading Leon isn’t even close to an option. For hypothetical reasons let’s just say he wanted out for whatever reason. Your going to loose the trade no matter what in this event are collecting a lot of futures. Multiple good picks even if they end up being 20+ overall first rounders good scouting can find gems and our scouts have been really good. Strome can be flipped or given another shot it’s a different team and he’s a better player now then he was then. Schneider is a very good prospect as well. I think this is making the best of a horrible situation.

The thing is there are zero sure-things in this return. I don't know anything about the prospects, and the picks would be 26-32 with Drai on the Rangers. So with this deal, its very possible in 3-5 years time you have nothing to show for it. Thats a risk you don't need to take moving a top 3 player on the planet. As mentioned above, a deal from the Rangers would start at Sheshtirkin + Lafrenierre/Kakko + Miller/Lundkvist + Kravstov + multiple 1st. Drai loves the Oilers and would never ask to be moved, but if he ever did, there would be 31 teams interested, so finding a team that would be willing to pay the price wouldn't be hard
