Description

Canes overpay to swap LTIR contracts and acquire Schenn. It isn’t known if Gardiner will be LTIR’d next season so they swap him with a guy that will be. Also, get a cup pedigree depth RHS defender to add depth and physicality for the stretch run. Vancouver gets two young guys who can potentially pan out to be roster players. Keane is the more likely of the two. Keane’s path to the league is basically blocked as it is likely we keep all 3 RHS defenders again next season. Vancouver could use Gardiner next season, buy him out, or ride him out on LTIR (if that is an option). It’s a little bit of a gamble for them too. Benning is the gambling type.

If we start re tooling I would happily do this, if not I think our cap space is too valuable to chance Gardiner.

As one of the deepest teams in the league, Im not sure we care.

I don't like this idea. The TDL is probably used to pick up a depth goalie, and maybe another defenseman because Smith isn't the most reliable. There's ways to sort that out without giving up guys like Bokk and Keane

I bet not. The Canes aren’t players in the rental market. On top of that, the Canes aren’t playing him as a 4C tonight, Necas and Nino are his wingers.

I’m lying? Interesting because the GM said they wouldn’t be big players in the rental market because there wasn’t much value in it.
