Edmonton has not been into trading prospects. They do however spend picks like drunken sailors though.

That is their prerogative, but that's is most likely the ask based on last year's deadline move by Tampa for Savard.

1 trade doesnt make standard. look 2 years ago Oleksiak agian pretty well the same player as savard and chariot only got a 4th rounder....
or Ian cole 3 years ago again pretty well same defender as these 3 only got a nobody prospect and a 3rd.

just saying yes they might ask but that is far from receiving.

Chiarot has consistently given up more shots, scoring chances and goals than his teammates throughout his career, including the past two playoff runs. Especially the past two playoff runs, where he had terrible on-ice numbers. He just not a good defender and he doesn't bring anything offensively either. He's a big, physical guy who appears effective due to his ability to crosscheck opponents repeatedly in front of his net, but he doesn't actually reduce scoring rates or scoring chances, and he never has. THIS IS A PROVEN FACT, NOT AN SUBJECTIVE "TAKE".

A playoff team shouldn't be giving up anything of value for him, whether retained or not. He doesn't do the things that help a team win games.

That is one of the worse take I’ve ever seen on Capfriendly
Anyone who watched MTL postseason last year (MTL,TML,WPG,VGK fans) will tell you Chiarot isn’t bad and play a strong and nasty game in front of the net. Just that looks like GM will overpay for that reason

How has the crosschecking crackdown affected his ability to play the strong/nasty game in front of the net? Seems like the increased calls would be detrimental to a dman of that style.

Not really, he still plays physical and clears the front of the net using body positioning and leverage

At 5v5 he was called for just 0.51 penalties per 60 in the playoffs last year, this year he's at a career high 1.30/60. Among 180 defensemen to play at least 150 minutes so far this year, Chiarot is 11th worst for getting penalized.

    "Not really" is disingenuous.

For regular season it’s super bad, but in the playoffs he doesn’t get call for that. It’s more tripping penalties he takes in the postseason

This trade depends on how serious Edmonton think they can go on a run this year and win.
