Well, because we don't need Mete and even less White. Tage plays now looks like a top 6 C for us.


I just don’t know why we should trade Thompson, he is young, he looks good in the center. We just don't need Mete, and neither does White. Our main need is goalie and RD.

Thompson having a career year (so far), and is on a great deal (With control remaining after his 2 years are up). I'd imagine the asking price would be sky high. A contender that is tight against the cap would probably give up an arm and a leg to get him. If the ask isn't Coleman-esque (Top prospect=Foote+lotto protected 1st) I can't imagine the Sabres having any interest in even picking up the phone. Coleman's early career numbers were a bit better than Tage's, but the extra control probably evens it out a bit more.

Tage also probably fits the Sabres rebuild timeline pretty well, which would be even more reason for them to set a sky-high price on him.

His track record is literally his 19 games this season, the last 4 years before had been pretty nondescript.
