How did Suzuki go this low?

Description
Most 2017 Mock drafts have Suzuki locked in the top 5. Usually, this happens in a mock draft, as certain players blow past their peers during development and end up being better players. But looking at Nick Suzuki's draft year stats vs his peers, how did he not go higher from the start?

Most likely GMs and scouts thinking too much. I feel like Suzuki was a name for awhile and I think teams start to "overscout" players and look for warts in their game the more they see them. that would be my guess - tough to argue his production.

Glass, Suzuki and Yamamoto all had similar points in the same amount of CHL games, however they are separated by many spots, this likely comes down to upside and the flags in each of the player's games

So, obviously there's reason for the jump between some - being non CHL forwards which was all I was comparing .... but for fun lets look at picks 9-13. 4/5 were CHL forwards. Of those, Suzuki was far and beyond the best player. I don't know how 3 GM's looked at Suzuki and the player they took and said, "hmm, we'll take the other guy".

I'm honestly going to take a look at another NHL draft (2018, 2016) and see how things would have gone if GM's would have stopped overthinking
