Let’s talk this out…

Deal done this summer…

Obviously Bo resigning would be a make or break… but is there any framework where something could be worked out along these lines.

Let me know what you sens fans think? Added or subtracted?

As a Canucks fan, we should trade Boeser before Bo. And with what MIller has shown as a leader and both on the ice, he deserves to be resigned.

That being said, if we move Bo, we should consider moving him with Pearson. If we move Brock, we should consider moving him with Poolman.

From Ottawa, I'd be happy with JBD, Formenton, and a 1st for one of those guys. I just wouldn't take a risk on White with 3 years remaining on his deal.

Sens have the assets to make a fair offer on one of the Vancouver forwards (I'd be cool with any of the 3 tbh) without taking bad money back.

I’d rather not trade for Miller. Boeser or Horvat sure. I’d trade for Pettersson too tbh

Age isn't ideal with Miller, same with contract status, but I really like the idea of a player like that on Stützle's line. Could be a C if Stützle doesn't work out, but would be an amazing LW who could help him on draws. Boeser would be my top choice.

I mean the value is probably fair because Pearson is approaching negative value but I would rather just move Bo straight up and get a bit more.

If Ottawa was offered this very trade by Vancouver, I would lean towards taking it.

Even without a guaranteed extension from Horvat.

If Horvat refuses to sign in Ottawa and we need to trade him elsewhere, a 1st round pick for 2022 or 2023 is guaranteed as part of the return.

Easy.

I'm not sold on JBD being a Top 4 NHL defenceman in Ottawa, so whatever we get from trading Horvat to a third team would easily cancel out the value of having JBD.

When Jordan Staal was about Horvat's age and he was traded to Carolina, Pittsburgh got Brian Dumoulin, Brandon Sutter and the 8th overall pick.

That has me salivating.

I also think the difference between Pearson and Formenton is a bit of a wash.

And that Poolman at 2.5 million and Colin White at 4.75 million are both cap dumps.

Ottawa accepts.

Why don’t you think JBD is gonna be a top 4 D? I think he’s tracking towards being a really solid top 4 defensive guy, the type of player who will likely complement a type of guy like Chabot or Brannstrom super well. He was a first round pick, a big part of Canada’s 2020 WJC Gold (I think he wore an A and munched minutes on that blueline), and won best defensive defenseman in the NCHC last year, so his track record is very strong, and he has found success at every level so far, including recent history. With a little longer in the AHL (rest of this season, maybe even part of next season, I wouldn’t panic unless he’s not on the team by 23-24 camp or looks atrocious in the AHL next year), I think he should develop just fine. I’m really against giving him up honestly. I also don’t think that if this is the best offer Vancouver is getting for Horvat then we’ll be able to immediately flip him for 8oa+a top 4 D+a 3C. And I’m not a big fan of Pearson, I think Formenton has significantly more upside due to his speed alone, but he’s also a good 2-way guy with a decent shot that fits our time frame much better than a veteran who I’ve always thought is overhyped. And Poolman sucks. It seems like you’re evaluating this trade as a way to bring in more assets that we can flip for futures, and I just don’t think that’s the right mindset to have anymore, our competitive window starts before any of the futures we’d get would make an impact (and JBD+Formenton fit that timeline super well). I don’t think even BoHo is a very appealing target. I’d much rather trade for Boeser.
