Trades
1.
NYI
  1. 2022 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Edmonton finally gets their goalie that can bail them out, despite a potential down year for Varlamov.
EDM
  1. Varlamov, Semyon
Additional Details:
Islanders are able to get a 1st for their back up goalie while clearing cap.
2.
NYI
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Buffalo, in a rebuild, gets a younger player in Bellows. Former 1st round pick and see if he can develop at all. Worst case scenario is that he is a bottom 6 forward or scratch.
BUF
  1. Bellows, Kieffer
Additional Details:
Trotz isn't a huge Bellows guy. They recently extended Johnston, so he will grab an extra forward spot. Trotz also likes Panik, who will get a spot somewhere on the roster. Bellows is the odd man out and get a pick for him.
3.
NYI
  1. Boeser, Brock [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Vancouver wants to get clear some cap space. Not bringing back Boeser helps to do so. They are able to bring in assets to help towards rebuild or trade these incoming assets to further clear cap.
VAN
  1. Holmström, Simon
  2. Wilde, Bode
  3. 2022 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
The Isles FINALLY get their goal scorer. Bode Wilde did not get his vaccination and that will make him more likely to be traded. Wilde is a big frame and still has some upside as a former 2nd round pick. Holmstrom has stepped his game up so far this year helping his trade value, as of now, not in the Isles future plans. They end up flipping the 1st from Edmonton here.

As much as a good portion of Isles fans want Bailey and his cap hit gone, I don't see Lou trading him away, therefore I kept him on the roster.

I think the Canucks could get a better offer for Boeser. Wilde won't work for the Canucks, being unvaccinated.

Nelson is a pretty similar level goalscorer to Boeser in context FWIW but hey having both along with wahlstrom might actually give them a top 10 O

The narrative that the Canucks' cap situation will be strained unless they trade Boeser is not true. We can easily afford to keep him.

That's not a good offer for the Canucks.

A first, anti vaxer and meh prospect isn't enough for Boeser.

Even if the anti-vax was Bertuzzi - being anti on a Canadian team just doesn't work.

As a Sabres fan, I’d be cool with that trade for Bellows
Might just need a change of scenery
And a 3rd seems reasonable enough to risk
I wouldn’t do a 2nd though

Id take Bellows for a 3rd but idk if Buufalo has a spot for him, may not be the best for his development in the long run

Oilers decline. Varlamov is not the answer for the Oilers. Not at the price of a first and not without making the cap work.

Lou left Bailey exposed in the expansion draft plus Bailey plays like he doesn’t care about the game anymore. Can’t see him on the roster next season. If he’s not traded he’ll be bought out

Thats what i was thinking. We have mittelstadt, quinn, peterka, tuch, and krebs that are all gonna be knocking on the door, plus 3 first round picks this year. We are gonna start losing guys like bjork and ruotsalainen as it is.

I like Varlamov but taking the entire cap hit AND giving up a 1st doesn't make sense when you know that Edmonton already has 2 goalies under contract next year. He needs to at least take Smith back, and/or reduced his pick expectations by a round.
