Additional Details:
IF the hawks get shane wright, are they the winners of the Seth Jones trade. Jones has honestly exceeded expectations and looked really good imo. Wright will likley become much more than sillinger, boqvist, and bean do, although I will admit sillinger has looked pretty good

Jones has been better offensively that I expected, but still a little worse defensively than I expected. But I had him at as a Norris candidate caliber Dman. The issue with that trade was that no one was paying $9.5M next year for him. Sillinger would have been nice, but I would have done the swap and even with hindsight I would have done the swap. It's this upcoming 2022 1st that's just way too much for someone you could have had for free.

***edit*** the other thing is that I would NOT play Wright even if they got him. Don't ruin his development. Allow his to mature at his own pace.

the trade is far worse to me considering chicago was one of like two teams he was willing to sign with and were basically trying to beat themselves when making the offer since dallas dropped out. they’d have been better off just getting his brother and waiting until the next year to just sign him in FA if they were pretty sure he’d want to go there. they had a ton of leverage and totally blew it

Strome and Fleury half retained first of all, plus taking their cap dumps (koskinen, turris).

Strome easily gets at least a 2nd on his own though

Strome will not get easily 2nd from any team. Everyone knows what he's

I disagree on not playing Wright. If he's NHL ready then play him. And if the hawks somehow get lucky and get Wright then they need to be good next year so they don't give bedard or Michkov to Colmbus. If Wright and Reichel can contribute on ELC's and a year before the Debrincat raise it could be a good time to try to make a run. Bring in a top 4 LD (Lindholm?) and who knows what could happen. Call me crazy but I still don't think this team is as far off as most people think it is

Jones has looked better, but 8 x $9.5M hasn’t even started yet.

Plus, getting Wright doesn’t mean you guys kept the pick - it just gets transferred to 2023. Unprotected.

And if that 2023 1st ends up being just as high, well, I’m still largely happy as a CBJ fan.

It just seems to be a trend to rush those top picks way to fast into the NHL and all along VERY unfortunately, DET is sitting back allowing guys full seasons longer and will surpass everyone in no time.

This. I don't think it's possible for Chicago to win the trade outright, but I do think there's still a chance for it to be a win-win for both teams.
