The Stars really don't need Matheson. We have Lindell's bad contract and Harley is almost NHL ready so we'd really have no use for him. Same goes for DeSmith. Already a log-jam in net.

I think if Dallas can't turn it around before the Deadline they start a rebuild. Klingberg won't come back after the season Bishop is too injury-prone and Seguin and Benn are up their and age have been injured a lot as well. It won't be a long one since they have Hiskenan, Hintz, and Robertson

VAN decline, that move does nothing for them. Also, Boeser is a core piece for them and if by any chance they do move him, they want a top 4 RHD coming back in return.

Dallas doesn't need to rebuild just retool. What they need more than anything is a different coach. Bishop is a possibility to return this season and the likelihood of Klingberg re-signing is high. If Matheson had a better contract I'd be open to this deal but him and Lindell have similar contracts and they're both pretty bad.

Listen Bishop when healthy is a top 10 goalie, i mean he carry this team far in the playoffs like 2019, but with how much he gets injured and consider he 35 i just don't see him coming back this year and when he does it will be too late. And Klingberg wants a long extension worth 9M - 9.5M AAV and with him turning 30 next year it better to let him walk, not to mention these next two draft classes are stacked with talent

It easier it called Malkin going somewhere else because i don't see Pittsburgh giving him than 6 mil and i know he gonna want 7 to 9 mil next year

Nothing about that Stars deal works for the Stars. Nothing in that package is worth anything. Two dumps and two AHL guys. No thanks

It’s called Maple Leaf fan syndrome… The sick person blindly assumes all of their meh prospects are made of gold and worth all of your good players

Oettinger, Khudobin (still 1 more year remaining on his contract), & possibly Bishop = No need for DeSmith

Lindell, Harley, Suter, Hanley, possibly Heiskanen = No need for Matheson or his contract on the left side

Two AHL caliber players (Lafferty & Gruden) aren’t enough for Dallas to take on 2 players they don’t need & add their cap hit to their roster.

Also, Dallas has enough cap space to sign their RFA’s, sign Klingberg to the $8-8.5M contract he’s looking for, fill the rest of the roster, and still have roughly $7M left in cap space. Cap space isn’t much of an issue for the Stars this offseason. Still doesn’t mean they need to take on bad players on bad contracts.
