This team is exceeding expectations, and there is still a lot of season left to play. Even if they are in the running for the playoffs, I really don’t want them doing anything more than, at best, rolling with what they have.

I would for sure not do this if I was the Penguins.

I would be... extremely shocked if that was an acceptable price for Malkin, and I still think it's a bit too early to be presuming we'll be buyers at the deadline anyways. We can all enjoy the early returns while they're here because it's fun and awesome and wonderful, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Not getting ahead of anything. I’ve always believed this team was good. They aren’t cup contenders, but they are far from being in what fans like to call a rebuild.

I think the above package is a good one for Malkin.
They may get better, but he definitely is not worth it now...he is on an expiring contract, 35, and oft injured. Why pay such a high price for a player that probably won't hold up under the rigors of the playoffs.
