Rangers didnt trade Schneider for Eichel, theyre definitely not doing it for Horvat.

so two top prospects plus our next two 2nd rounders for an average 2c when we already have strome, who's producing really well rn. throwing away picks and assets from our already weak prospect pool to slightly upgrade, if not damage our top 6 is not what we need to be doing right now. strome or the 2nd line in general is not the problem whatsoever, especially with hunt improving.

youre also suggesting us trading georgiev with RS and a 4th for ritchie and mikheyev, which is just completely pointless. mikheyev adds nothing, and ritchies cap hit is just so unnecessary to take on. what youre suggesting is to get rid of our backup (who could bounce back) in exchange for a 2.5m 4th liner and a 1.6m scratch, when we already have a lot of talent in our top 6/top 9, and a 4th line thats becoming really good.

the final trade is also an overpay. the only positive is getting rid of nemeth. jones is our top LD prospect, and barron is a really promising center prospect, and once again our prospect pool is pretty weak rn. not only are we trading two of our best prospects, but we're also throwing away 2 first round picks for a 36 y/o ryan getzlaf and a good, but unnecessary defenseman, and not only that but we wouldnt be able to resign either of them.

we're basically paying 4 top prospects, our backup, a shutdown dman, two 1sts, two 2nds, and a 4th to slightly upgrade our team.

ps: we're not calling it the druryplan, thats not gonna be a thing.

If Sabres would have offered Eichel for Schneider, the Rangers 100% would have accepted it.

The Sabres asked for Lundkvist, Schneider and others players. Rangers declined.

It does not mean they were declining each of these guys one-for-one, nor mean they were unwilling to trade them.

On Horvat - I like his defensive game. He can also play at high speed, so might gel with Panarin. I also like how would make this lineup much more versatile. We will be able to move pieces around, ie, play Strome or Chytil at wing or center.

On Georgiev - I don't think he is that much better that Kinkaid or Wall right now. And is a bit overpaid.

On Lindholm- we need one more top-4 d-man. Miller is good enough some nights, but is really bad other nights. I think he is bottom-pair until he cuts down on the mistakes. Jones or Robertson may eventually get there. But for this year, and hopefully next 2-3 years, it would be ideal to add a veteran top-4 LD to this lineup. Getzlaf is just a bonus.

The part that makes no sense more than anything else and isn’t even remotely possible is that conditional 2023 2nd becoming a 2023 1st in the Horvat trade, but then also trading our 2023 1st for Lindholm when we don’t even have another 1st. That’s not how it works bud. Assuming this were to happen (even though it absolutely won’t), either the 2023 conditional 2nd or the 2023 1st becomes a 2024 pick or the Lindholm trade is ineligible.

yes, horvat is good, im not saying he isnt, but he wouldnt significantly upgrade the team, at least not to the level of 2 top prospects and two 2nds. id rather just have the 2nd line we have now, schneider, the picks, and maybe even kravtsov for the future than throwing away a significant amount of assets to have a slightly better top 6.

i think we're all overrating kinkaid rn, he would certainly be an upgrade. its not like we're gonna get anything for georgiev, and its not like he actively hurts the team, so unless we get a good replacement then we should just keep him, maybe sign him to a cheaper contract next year if he rebounds.

thats a ridiculous price to pay to slightly, and temporarily, upgrade our top 4. our two next 1sts, two of our best prospects, and a decent, but overpayed, shutdown dman. even with getzlaf its not worth it at all. i

Devils have 20 points in 18 games
In the next 64 games, you really think the Devils will only get 38 points
