Quoting: BigShoots
This is absolutely nuts considering he has 3 more yrs. He is a huge part of the problem. And will never be part of the solution. So what if we have no one in his place at least we can develop someone, sign someone, trade for someone. If anyone wanted Myers he should be gone.
I agree that he is part of the problem on the back end. I also agree that he is not part of the solution, however as it stands right now there is no solution and unless your going to give up big assets to acquire a top 4 RD there is no solution until at least the offseason which is why I said they should maybe consider a trade like this at the TDL.
"So what if we have no one in his place at least we can develop someone", who is it that your going to develop that's already in the organization? No one in the organization is anywhere near ready for the NHL at that position.
"Sign someone", who are you signing that is currently available?
"trade for someone", RD aren't cheap especially top 4 RD (Myers isn't a top for quality D but he averages over 20 minutes a night) what assets are you willing to give up?
I'm guessing if we could trade for someone else with more positive value BUFF would do the same and avoid his contract all together, so I'm assuming that isn't likely an option. Again I'm not saying I like the Myers contract, I would love to move on from it, but I just don't see Vancouver running a RD of Poolman Hamonic and Burroughs. What if either Poolman and or Hamonic get injured? Your going to run a bottom pair defenseman and two AHL Dman on the right side? I just don't think that's acceptable from an organizational standpoint, especially for a team that we know does not want to rebuild.
