I could see all of these except for Miller. A 1st feels like too much for him

Nobody's giving up anything close to a 1st for Miller, with or without retention

Wild don't need Eakin We could get a player with a way better upside with the 4th round pick

No chance we spend a first on Miller. I’d rather a guy like Giordano and I doubt we’d have to spend a first to get him. If not, just role with what we got. We’ve already got our top four set. Just need a 5 or 6 d man to play with Lundkvist.

Surprised that everyone thinks Miller isn't worth a 1st, given that he's over .5 ppg right now and playing 20 minutes a night. That said, I'd be good getting a second for him, ideally with either a 3rd/4th or a mid-tier prospect thrown in too. If his play takes a dip a straight-up 2nd would be fine.

Welcome to CF

Yup very fair he's still underrated tho less so

For me the issue is the fit with NYR very set on RD and keen for nils to get NHL experience, nemeth and his clause on the other side making it tricky, etc.

Fair point. I figured his relationship with Gallant back from their Vegas days would be a major driver for him moving to the Rangers. That said, if Miller doesn't fit the Rangers' plans I think there's still a substantial market to get a similar return for him. Skilled RHD that can chew minutes don't exactly grow on trees.

Rangers have an over supply of D already, so why on earth would they trade for more, and give up a first round pick to boot. Pure nonsense.

The Rangers may not need them but everybody else seems to need right handed defenders. Look at what the Sabres got in return for Ristolainen, right handed defenders are worth their weight in gold right now.

What does that have to do with the Rangers? The Rangers have ZERO need to add a right handed defenseman, so why on earth would they trade for another one? That would be like Edmonton trading for another 1C. It make ZERO sense.

If the Rangers make the playoffs I doubt Lundkvist plays. He hasn’t been great. I bet the Rangers will trade for a RHD at the deadline if they are close or in a playoff spot.

It has more to do with your quibbling on the value. Especially half retained I would have to think Miller can get a first round pick from someone. He doesn’t have to be a fit for the Rangers, I could give a **** where we send him if we get a first round pick back. Not everything revolves around New York City despite what people in New York City seem to think.

You're the one that posted a trade to THE RANGERS, not me. If you just want a 1st round pick from ANYONE, then say so in the comments and you won't get replies like mine. It's on you, not people that are just responding to what you post. And pointing out that the Rangers have no need for him is not quibbling about value, it is stating the obvious. And it doesn't mean another team won't give up a 1st for him, just not the Rangers.

Where should I begin? I didn’t post the trade, I replied to your comment. Nowhere in my comment did I say the Sabres should trade Colin Miller to the Rangers or that the Rangers have any need for him. What I did say is maybe the Rangers don’t need him but other teams probably will, and would pay the price being asked, especially if he has salary retained. Perhaps you need to look into improving your reading comprehension before criticizing anyone else.
