Blowing it up with new GM

Created by: BCAPP
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 28, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Zucker, Jason
  2. 2022 1st round pick (PIT)
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Good but not stud prospect
PIT
  1. Toffoli, Tyler
Additional Details:
Tofolli doesn't have to be traded today. However if they're blowing it up they should trade him as he will be past his prime/ufa/pending ufa by the time they're done rebuilding
2.
MTL
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (LAK)
  2. 2022 5th round pick (LAK)
LAK
  1. Armia, Joel
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Armia is the kind of guy who pushes you over the top. He's also mildly overpaid. A team on the upswing may want his style and skills. Thinking Anaheim, LA, or NJD. But the fact that he's overpaid will limit his return
3.
MTL
  1. 2022 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
THIS ISN'T ACTUALLY TAMPA. Just any contender that needs a reliable top 4 dman at the tdl. Perhaps they have an injury.
4.
MTL
  1. Dadonov, Evgeni
  2. Roy, Nicolas
  3. 2023 1st round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
A good prospect
VGK
  1. Drouin, Jonathan ($2,750,000 retained)
  2. Edmundson, Joel ($1,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
This is a pure cap move. Vegas is going to be super tight. This gives them a cheap second pairing dman and top 6 winger (neither studs) for a few years and takes away a bad contract.
5.
MTL
When price is healthy to any contender with a goalie injury. Likely a late second or similar. Won't be a steal
    6.
    MTL
Retain 2 million and all ot a sudden Hoffman is a great pick up for a cap strapped contender. Be it the leafs, Tampa, Vegas, Boston, Colorado (cap isn't too bad), or whomever

Wait... Why is Toffoli worth Zucker, a 1st, a 2nd and a "Good but not stud prospect"

And why does Armia have positive value?

solid moves man, little bit of overvaluing of our guys but not too bad.

I like how you're using cap retention to our advantage

A first and a second for Tofolli? I think the Pens pass on that my friend. Hexy has no intentions of moving that kind of payload.

That trade is joke. Hextall has repeatedly stated the Pens' 1st and 2nds are off-limits and if for some reason he decided to go back on that, it certainly wouldn't be giving one of each for Toffoli.

I can only really speak for the Vegas trade but it wouldn't happen for a few reasons.
      1. If Vegas moves Dadanov it is because they have too many top 6 players and need to get under the cap not take any back.
      2. Vegas' D core is in the top 10 of the league. Why would they take Edmundson? Their left side is Marinez-Hague-McNabb-Hutton-Theodore(if they need him there)
      3. Vegas is right against the cap and Roy is basically league min. He is playing 2nd line center while Karlsson is hurt and doing a good job.

In the end the premise is true that Vegas needs to move a 5M+ contract to fit Eichel in a healthy roster. The issue is Vegas has no need for cap coming back and your trade doesn't take into account their existing roster construction.

If you're deconstructing the roster, other GM's are like vultures, circling to pick at the bones. They aren't giving up top value for your players. Every player's value is depressed already, so the returns will be underwhelming.
