What an interesting, imaginative idea. Minnesota solves the #1C problem and the Fiala re-signing challenge. I wonder if it helps Vancouver enough. I would say Yes.

Brilliant vision. Congratulations!

But Van gets the player with much more term due to RFA and Calen Addison... not to mention it's easy to make the case for horvat being overrated

Hmonic really not a fit for cap stuck minne

They're not under the cap here Confused

Think VAN needs a center over another winger, they're stacked with those. Also Horvat's term should be a problem for Wild, given their huge cap issues in two years time.

If you're willing to trade Addison, you should just go for Miller. I hear that VAN wants RHD and futures. So...

Addison
Rask (to make the money work)
1st

For

Miller

Keep Fiala or trade him elsewhere

I’d rather have Horvat.

Simple fix- Rask goes on wavers, then to Iowa.

Interesting! I've always preferred Miller...

Year. GP. G. A. PTS. +/- PIM

Horvat
2018-19 82 27 34 61 -4 33 |
2019-20 69 22 31 53 -15 21 |
PLAYOFFS 17 10 2 12 0 4
2020-21 56 19 20 39 -6 23 |
2021-22 23 6 6 12 -4 12 |

Miller
2018-19 75 13 34 47 8 30 |
PLAYOFFS 4 0 2 2 0 0
2019-20 69 27 45 72 11 47 |
PLAYOFFS 17 6 12 18 3 14
2020-21 53 15 31 46 -7 43 |
2021-22 23 7 13 20 -2 8 |

Ok looking at those stats, I like Horvat, too.

Kind of a tough comparison though, because Horvat gets to play against second lines and fourth lines rather than the top shutdown lines like Miller is dealing with.

I just think a middle of Horvat/Ek/Rossi/Sturm would be incredible - match up issues up and down the lineup for opposing coaches and the Wild could pretty much just roll 4 lines, match ups be dammed!

1 problem...

You can't resign Horvat. It's literally the same issue as Fiala. Both are due up this year and will cost too much to resign.

This is what I would do.

Miller gives you roughly the same cost as Fiala's current cap hit, but for an additional crucial year. Which gives us until Rossi makes the team next year and doesn't have to be counted on to be the 1C right away due to Miller being there instead already.

Then, trade Greenway for Strome and a 2nd for additional center depth this year, and then move him for further assets at the draft.

Bring up Boldy, and the team can make a playoff push.

Kaprizov-Miller-Zuccarello
Foligno-JEE-Boldy
Pitlick-Strome-Hartman
Duhaime-Sturm-Bjugstad

Gaudreau = 13th forward
Rask = Waived or the 14th forward.

I would move hell and high water trying to move Zucc and Greenway in order to make Horvat fit!
