Can’t retain on that many trades. I don’t hate the oilers trade although I doubt Russell would be involved hard time picturing oilers moving him sooo well respected from management to players.

1. Remember, only 3 retentions at a time.
2. I could see a first rounder on the Pens trade, but I think a second would be too much. If anything gets added to the first, it's probably a low-level prospect, think a guy like Bjorkqvist.
3. Similar story with the Oilers trade, it'd probably be a better and simpler deal if the only pick involved was the first, with maybe a late-round pick tacked on if needed.
4. Look, I like Stecher, but he's worth a 3rd at his absolute peak. He's injured and hasn't been anything spectacular in the games he has played, so I'd set his value at a 4th right now if a team wants him. The Leafs wouldn't give up a 2nd for him straight up, let alone with Mikheyev added on.

Overall, the right pieces are being moved around, but the value needs some serious tweaking. Even with Yzerman's trade magic I don't see these returns happening.

Agreed for the most part, although I hate the Oilers deal. Detroit would be sending two, very usesful pieces, for garbage coming back with a late 1st at that... I'd honestly rather then just re-sign both Leddy and Namestikov, as they've both been very good fits and I think at some point in the rebuild you need to stop selling and develop some continuity and show the team that you're ready to turn the corner. Short of acquiring some very valuable pieces in return (like a 1st AND a good prospect) in that deal. I just don't see the point... unless there are indications that Leddy or Namestikov won't re-sign.
