Starting the Rebuild with a BANG

Created by: Nick_SUCCzuki

Description
The habs have all but officially announced that we will be rebuilding, which means Price will need to be moved. Edmonton needs to capitalize on McDavind and Drai now, and Mikko is not good enough to bring them all the way. Eventhough price hasn't played yet this season, he's showed consistency in the playoffs, and could be the missing piece to this oilers team. Ik some habs fans will want more of a return, but the truth is its a massive contract that we cannot have if we are to rebuild. Maybe either team needs to add sweeteners or make a trade with another team to get cap space, but I think this move is best for both teams.

Keith was moved to Edmonton to be closer to his kid. He won't be moved to a team that is farther than the one he was on

Ive been pretty vocal against price and chiarot trades going to edmonton but honestly I would do it if possible but two major factors stop this trade

-No way keith waives to a last place team (Also half the reason he chose edmonton is that his literal family lives there)

-Prices contract might be a little hefty for edmontons cap situation years ahead but if edmonton trades some rfa contracts (Yamo,Foegle) M a y b e it could happen if holland becomes a cap god but odds are low

That is a lot of retention. I believe a new record for total amount retained.

No way Keith wants to be traded further away from family.

only way Price comes to EDM is if MTL retains 50% that is virtually the only way for it to narrowly fit with the cap the nest few years. ( edmonton would still need to make a trade in the Summer for JP contract to fit)

But this trade would never happen as keith like many have said will not waive his NMC not only because of his son but why would you waive to go from the 1st place team in the west at the moment to the a bottom dweller in the east..... Hey I have a shot at the playoffs this year but hey I will sacrifice that so EDM who i owe nothing to can maybe get better for a deeper run!!! What a team guy!

I know Price has been a favourite in montreal but reality is he's already 34 and I feel last yr was his last outstanding playoff performance and he's struggled with injuries the last few seasons, even at 50% retained its to big of a risk to take on another 4 yrs of his deal, Price should remain a hab and retire as a hab

As everyone mentioned above Keith has a full no move and he was only willing to waive for the pacific northwest and alberta teams
