The big piece here is dobson, hes been smoothly progressing but I can see him being a big asset to Vancouver given a role that's not a 3rd pair dman. Holmstrom has been improving and looks to be a middle 6 scorer in the NHL level. and palmeri is mostly for the cap space to work out but he's still a serviceable top 6 winger.

For defenseman their D+1 and D+2 seasons are very important in predicting their future. Liljeren did not show any progression in either of those seasons. Dobson was incredible in his D+1 and his analytics in the NHL during his D+2 were great for a 19 year old defenseman. There isn’t anything Liljeren does better than Dobson, they’re not even in the same conversation.

You should know by now that Lou/Trotz would never entertain brining in a small defenseman like Merkley. I think Merkley will be high end offensive D with PP 1upside, but not top pair because he is a defensive liability.

No it’s isles fans like you who need instant gratification from a player and want to trade any young player who doesn’t meet your expectations right away. 6’4 D with elite skating + two way ability don’t grow on trees.

Using points to compare Boeser to Dobson doesn’t make sense. You also forgot that Boesers finishing ability has been below average since his wrist injury a few years ago. Keep in mind that Boeser is no longer a sniper and a lot of his points are a result of playing with Pettersson. Notice how Boesers numbers are terrible this year at the same time Peterson is struggling 🤔. He’s a complimentary player. It seems like you’re the one overrating players

Uhhh no, I hope you realize boesers 2 best seasons in terms of points per game were without petey. His rookie season when Petterson was not in the league and this most recent season when Petterson was out with injury for most of the season. Like many players he's having a touch stretch, also his team is doing worse then us right now so I would not expect him to light it up.

Brysons stock keeps climbing. We have a ton of left d, and our future at wing looks pretty decent. Goaltending should be addressed by grabbing a league average guy on the cheap. Look at who we have either here or coming soon on the wings- olofsson, tuch, quinn, peterka, asplund, possibly rosen, and im guessing at least one of krebs/thompson/mittelstadt ends up on the wing, plus i believe two of the russian kids and bloom that we just drafted. I dont see much reason to look for a winger unless you wanna add a specific skill set- tougher or faster for instance. Its a solid group on paper. Center doesnt look nearly as strong to me- i think our first this year is on a center that will be a top line center. Cozens is probably fine to pencil into the top 6. The rest im not sold on yet, but of course, you arent getting a top 6 center for jacob bryson. I suppose what makes sense to me is a right d that knows where his own zone is and maybe finishes his checks. Thats my choice.

You’re not wrong, but right handed shooting defenders are a lot harder to get out of other teams right now. There seems to be a shortage league wide, so even mediocre right handed shooting defensemen are going for more than they are probably worth. Having another guy you can plug-in and see if he fits isn’t a bad thing. You can try to parlay some of that wing depth into a younger Center via trade with a team that doesn’t have as much wing depth as we do if such a trade is possible.

You have missed the part where I said Boeser hasn’t been the same since his wrist injury. His shot is nowhere near as good and he’s even hesistant to shoot now. It’s funny how you want to make excuses for Boeser now but 21 YO Dobson playing with a 44 YO pylon doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt.

If Boeser was that good he’d be able to produce even when Pettersson is struggling. JT Miller isn’t having a problem putting up points
