God we suck

Initial Creation Date: Nov. 29, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Sutter, Brandon
  2. 2022 5th round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Assuming this take place after a JT Miller trade, or some other situation where the Canucks will have the cap space.
VAN
  1. Strome, Dylan
Additional Details:
Poor guy keeps getting scratched in favor of guys who should be in the AHL. Kyle Davidson should do what he did for Gaudette and let him go play somewhere he will get a chance, even if they don't get adequate return.
2.
CHI
  1. DeBrusk, Jake
  2. 2023 4th round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Needs a fresh start and is making almost the same as Kubalik. Add in a mid round pick and it's worth it for Chicago.
BOS
  1. Kubalik, Dominik
Additional Details:
Kubalik has been underperforming, but ship him out at the deadline and give him a chance to find his game elsewhere. He could regain that finishing talent if playing with the right guys.
3.
CHI
  1. Skinner, Jeff
  2. 2022 7th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Skinner is signed for 500k less, and 3 years less, so Buffalo receives the sweetener in this deal.
BUF
  1. Galvas, Jakub
  2. Jones, Seth
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
This is obviously a long shot, but Stan Bowman traded for and signed Seth Jones, not Kyle Davidson. While Jones is still on his last year of this deal, he only has a modified NTC. He submits a 10 team no trade list. For the sake of this trade I am going to hope he thinks things are trending in the right direction in Buffalo, and does not include him in his no trade list. Hopefully the points Jones is getting tricks someone into taking his contract, although I think Adams is a good GM, and it seems nearly impossible.
4.
CHI
  1. DeSmith, Casey
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (PIT)
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (PIT)
PIT
  1. Fleury, Marc-André ($3,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
50% Salary Retention. Aside from his horrible start, Fleury has since been one of the best goalies in the league this season. Most teams could improve from picking him up. Unfortunately the one that everyone wants to see (Pittsburgh), doesn't make sense with how good Jarry has been. However, I think it will happen. I imagine he wants to retire there, and if he is Jarry's backup come playoffs, he will probably be ok with it. The part that does make sense, is that if Jarry chokes come playoff time, Fleury would be right there. At half salary, Chicago should be able to get a decent return.
5.
CHI
  1. 2022 6th round pick (NSH)
Additional Details:
If Anaheim is still in a playoff spot come the deadline, a bottom pair dman would be a good investment. Price on De Haan will not be high.
6.
CHI
  1. Kassian, Zack
  2. Tullio, Tyler
Additional Details:
Cap Dump for Oilers. Gustafsson could be an alright depth option if needed. Tullio the sweetener for Chicago.
7.
CHI
  1. Blais, Samuel
  2. Kravtsov, Vitali
  3. Trouba, Jacob
  4. 2022 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Only way I see the Rangers able to do this is with Trouba going back. Chicago likely won't retain salary because they will have to eat so much of Toews' contract.
NYR
  1. Kane, Patrick
Additional Details:
Seems crazy, but I think it's the best move. Need to commit to the rebuild. Someone would surely over pay for Kane and Toews because reputation is valued so much.
8.
CHI
  1. Abruzzese, Nick [Reserve List]
  2. Holl, Justin
  3. Kerfoot, Alexander
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (TOR)
  5. 2024 3rd round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Toews, Jonathan ($5,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
50% Retained. Toews value should be really low, but after what they gave up for Foligno last year, an overpay for Toews seems very realistic.
9.
CHI
  1. 2022 7th round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Any playoff team will give up a late pick for a bottom 6 penalty killer,

I don’t think Anaheim will be buying. Plus I think we have 6 other defensemen than are better

Sweeney might, but those of us with brain cells would not turn that down.

Jones trade will never happen and if it did, there would be another GM that would view him as a positive asset not just a swap of bad contracts.

Getting what is essentially a first, second, and third for kane and toews retained 50% would be an absolutely horrible return

Right but in this universe I'm being pessimistic and assuming every GM is smart enough to see Jones is not a positive asset. Toews is not worth much anymore even on half salary, and I did not retain any money on Kane.
