Debrusk

Created by: Jah1722
Team: 2021-22 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 29, 2021
Published: Nov. 29, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Henrique could be a 2C option for BOS. With the retention his cap hit would be about the same as Debrusk QO next season. Ducks take a shot on a young player who’s value is low.

The pick is included as insurance that Debrusk isn’t qualified/re-signed so the ducks don’t lose Henrique for nothing after the season.

For the “he went thru waivers” screamers, Henrique is still a good NHLer. He’s just about 1.5M overpaid but with 1M retention he’s only about 500k overpaid plus he’s a goal scorer and Hall being more of a playmaker could be a good fit. Henrique has 6-9-15 in 21 games this year.

**DISCLAIMER: I haven’t looked at BOS cap situation yet. I’m looking now.

Probably could. He’s back to being the good Henrique.

GMBM isn’t around anymore to scapegoat single players for his inabilities.

Henrique is old, kinda stinks, and is paid like he doesn’t kinda stink. No interest.

Now this is LOL worthy. Henrique is still good and he’s only 31. On the other hand Debrusk stinks and is paid like he doesn’t stink. The only thing he has going for him is being 24.

31 is old for an NHL forward.

Sounds like you shouldn’t want this trade to happen them.

Do you not pay attention to this league? Ya, some guys age gracefully, but 30 is around when most forwards begin to decline. Some fall off a cliff like a recent ducks player named Backes. Another guy that started declining after he turned 30? Adam Henrique.

It's not that old but there's still a risk after 30yo especially for secondary players. Unless the player is elite, he'll likely regress around that. He'll be 32 in about 2 months. 15 pts in 21 GP is great but it's a short sample size and it's unlikely he keeps that pace. $4.825M is still a lot and he's got 3 years/M-NTC on his contract.

You are telling me that forwards don’t start to decline at 30 and you’re saying I’m in a bubble?

He’s just above his career average in his PPG to start this season while shooting below his career average. While his assist rate may slowdown his goal scoring rate should increase. Also 21 games is over a quarter of a season. It’s not that small of a sample size.

4.8M is Debrusk’s QO. Basically even money for next season.

No I’m telling you Henrique doesn’t stink but you wouldn’t know that because you don’t pay attention to anyone but the Bruins.

He kinda stinks. And he seems to be in decline. Just like most forwards once they hit 30.

I still don't see him able to keep that pace and it's more about the Bruins. 2nd/3rd liners seem to forget how to finish or generate/create (which could also be a system thing) once they play in Boston. Don't want to acquire Henrique, if he regresses and they end up being stuck with his contract. If he was a UFA in 2023, maybe.

From Anaheim, I don't see a one for one deal so either a pick or a prospect but I know his QO could be a concern.

Henrique is a goal scorer. Hall is more of a play maker. Seems like a good fit. All of Henrique’s offensive metrics have remained good even when he was “bad”. The defensive side has faltered but that’s more of a commitment issue on a bad team with a poor coach and awful GM last season.

I think the Ducks can get more for Henrique, but I do also think that they’ll have to retain 50% of his salary. He’s still in his prime and has proven this season that he can absolutely play quality hockey, but he’s definitely overpaid for his age. If the Ducks retain 50%, they can definitely get at least a young player and a 2nd easily, maybe even squeeze another mid to low round pick in there if a team is interested enough.
