REALISTIC TDL and Offseason 1 of 2

Created by: Super_Randy
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 29, 2021
Published: Nov. 29, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
VP - Jeff Gorton

GM - Mathieu Darche

AGM & Head of Scouting - Madden Jr.

Head Coach - Guy Bouche with Luke Richardson staying on. Both Burrows and Ducharme are relieved of their duties after christmas.

Carey Price does not return until after TDL, so Habs brass make the choice to deal Allen out and run with Primeau getting majority of starts and Montembeault as backup.

Montreal starts to shift identity away from the Weber/Price/Gallagher days starting at the draft by bringing in new leaders and rebuilding the d-core.
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
I think that Chiraot will fetch at least a 3rd round pick, but salary retention nets them the 2nd. TDL deal.
EDM
  1. Chiarot, Ben ($1,750,000 retained)
2.
MTL
  1. 2022 4th round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Anyone in the playoff race who wants a decent LHD at a fair price. TDL deal
3.
MTL
  1. 2022 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
TDL move to anyone willing to pay the 4th
4.
MTL
  1. 2022 6th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
TDL move to anyone willing to pay the 6th
5.
MTL
  1. 2022 6th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
TDL move to anyone willing to pay the 6th
6.
MTL
  1. Zucker, Jason
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
I do not think that outright is Lehkonen is worth a 2nd but added in the Zucker contract back to MTL makes it worth it for Pittsburg IMO. Also Lehkonen is still RFA at season end. TDL deal
7.
MTL
  1. L'Heureux, Zachary
Additional Details:
The idea behind this trade is L'Heureux is from Montreal and would be considered a hometown boy. He was drafted 27th in 2021 and Mysak was drafted 48th in 2020 (but was predicted to go in first round). Allen at 50% retained plus a 3rd to round off the trade (can be upgraded to one of the two 2nds besides the MTL 2nd if the 3rd is not enough. TDL deal.
NSH
  1. Allen, Jake
  2. Mysak, Jan
  3. 2022 3rd round pick (MTL)

The value isn;t off on any of those deals really, theyre pretty fair (and even a tad conservative) from a MTL fan in terms of what MTL gets.

I just cant see NSH wanting Allen. A very good but expensive backup.

And while I see a nice 2nd rounder from PIT, does MTL really want a 30 yr old winger who gets 45 pts for 5.5mil? I'm just not a Zucker fan, who's best season was 5 yrs ago and is overpaid for his production and still under contract for 2 yrs. Scoring winger is not what MTL lacks IMO, (you have 7 better suited or equal wingers in caulfield, anderson, toffoli, hoffman, drouin, gallagher and armia). Maybe a two way, not working out, former prospect like a Poulin or a 4th instead.

A 5th or 6th round pick for Perreault sounds like a fair price that someone will pay.

The Idea of the trade for Zucker was to get another 2nd round pick in this years draft and buy out Zucker this summer or keep him and flip him at the following TDL and retain salary and try and get another pick. I should of stated that above ! My bad
