I’d like Gurianov a lot, but I don’t want to give up Dube for it, if Dallas is selling him I’d rather give up picks. Two 2nds+Gawdin? The whole point would be to run a 2nd line of Mangiapane-Dube-Gurianov tbh. Young, fast, exciting, good at both ends of the ice. And then move Monahan for a good middle six winger (potentially even a better player than Gurianov or Dube) for the 3rd line with Backlund and Coleman. Like I think Kessel might be a TDL option for our current 3rd line with Dube and Monahan (could also shuffle, play Monahan between Dube/Mangiapane and run Coleman-Backlund-Kessel), so if we wait until the offseason, I imagine we trade Monahan for a winger like that, but with term.

Tkachuk and Gaudreau probably wont get 9M.

Why are you paying Risto almost 4M to be a bottom pair dman?

Dang, didnt know was so low. thx for insight. Could slide Backlund back up, then Acciari can take the faceoffs on Texier's line.

Maybe I can cut off a year. He's a really good versatile forward that fits the Sutter mindset.

Gotta think Dallas only rotates him laterally. I tried a DeBrusk swap originally but the QO tips that greatly in Boston's favor. Stars fans argue he is morbidly misused there and would rather wait out a coaching change, but I also think CGY hasn't found a clear spot for Dube and are clinging on to overly optimistic potential. Its a swap of two guys who fit their other teams better imo. Don't see Dallas doing it for just a collection of picks.

why are you posting 3 different times lol

ignore the pair numbers. they're arranged according to fit. there are 3 somewhat equivalent D pairs here. Calgary doesn't have a clear top pair this year.

I think Dallas is too stuck in their ways of liking old guys too much. Robertson-Hintz-Gurianov would be a solid 1st line but they keep playing guys that are old and/or past it. A coaching change would benefit him maybe, but only if they don’t hire another dinosaur. If their current roster isn’t competitive (and it’s not) I think they really need to just sell everything, and try to be competitive by the time Heiskanen/Robertson/Oettinger are in their late 20s.

Hanifin-Andersson is our clear top pair this year. And they are individually the best LD and RD respectively on this roster as well, and it’s not close.

Yes but he probably wont ever get to see it since Calgary likely files for arbitration

2 years of 7.65 million and then UFA. He would take that.

Guri isn’t a rental. Yes he has struggled to produce consistently in Bowness’ system, but that doesn’t mean we’re looking to move him for picks

Filing for arbitration doesnt mean you go to arbitration. Boston literally filed for arbitration with Carlo this summer and he signed a 6 year deal.

Also if it were to go to an arbitrator they can only award a 1 year deal so its no different than him getting a QO.

The advantage to team arbitration is the ability to give a lower contract, the only disadvantage is another team can still give an OS

a team chosen arb can go 2 years and the minimum award is 85% of their previous year’s earnings

Yes they can still negotiate. Why wouldn’t he take good money and then get even more on the free market?

Team chosen arbitration still follows standard arbitration rules. If it goes to an arbitrator Tkachuk, due to the amount of uears he has played, can only get 1 year from an arbitrator.

Whether Tkachuk files for arbitration, or the team does, or he just signs the QO, he can still force a situation of only signing for 1 year. So basically no matter what Tkachuk could just force a 1 year deal and walk in FA.

So again the idea of doing team arbitration is to not be forced into doing a minimum of 9M. Even if Tkachuk didn't sign the QO and went to arbitration, which (like every RFA that has the option) he should, he could still force a 1 year deal. However if he files for arb he is nolonger eligible to be offer sheeted.

Team arbitration still allows a player to be offer sheeted, but it also allows a team to avoid a QO. Like its 100% possible that Calgary fikes for arb on Tkachuk and then still offers him 9.5Mx8y

You are assuming they 1. Dont make a deal before meeting the arbitrator, and 2. The arbitrator awards the exact minimum.

Why?

I did say at a minimum.

If Calgary isn’t willing to go higher than 6 years at 9 million, why not get a 1 year 8 million or so deal then get a really good deal on the market?

Why are you assuming he signs for 6 x 9?

Im not assuming he signs anything, Im saying I highly doubt he is given the option to just sign his QO and get out of town.
