what they should do

Created by: Db1899
Team: 2021-22 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 30, 2021
Published: Nov. 30, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The season is over, the team is not making the playoffs because they waited too long to move on from Chara. Might as well see what young players step up when everyone is healthy - use this as an evaluation year.

Getting a decent pick this year wouldn’t be the worst thing for them. They’ve had a good couple playoff runs

    Edmonton accepts

We need a good goalie to compete the next couple of years while we wait for skinner and konovalov to develop.

Varlamov's contract only has 2 years left I'm pretty sure which is the perfect amount of time before one of the young guys can be a stable starter by themselves.

Koskinen's contract runs up after this year and based on his injury, age, and how he plays when he gets back it's probably smiths last year in the league.

The trade seems to be fair value for both sides nice job

You mean the best defensive team in the league, best coached team in the league, and the best team in New York won't be making the playoffs??? Wow. #YesYesYes

honestly im all for it. Trotz doesn't deserve success. Most overrated coach in the league.

On the bright side, I can always watch the Rangers ruin Kakko and Lafreniere. Looking like two busts!

Breaking up the best D pair in the league to accommodate a washed up Chara has put them in too deep of a hole. They should definitely be looking to sell.

That’s what happens when Rangers fans try to troll on an isles thread. Pretty sure the isles have dominated the Rangers over the last 5 years but go off

He answered a Rangers fan in the same attitude ffs. His ACGM had nothing to do with Rangers, still you’re here, which are the ones with inferiority complex?

If you wanna sell, fine. But I don't see the need to include Mayfield in that. Reasonable deal, good PKer, and could be a great 3rd pair if Dobson makes the jump you think that he will. If you trade Mayfield somewhere I'd try to pry out a forward from a team

Mayfield is exiting his prime and is a good sell high candidate. He’s a 3rd pair Caliber D but he’s probably valued as a 2nd pair D by some teams. I’m fine with trading for a forward as long as he’s young. Maybe a debrusk/mayfield swap works.

I was just clicking through a bunch of ACGM's and saw your comment from a islander fan on a islander post that has absolutely nothing to do with the rangers

The palmieri contract isn’t gonna end well and Bailey has looked awful in the games I’ve watched. Chara has to have something on Trotz with the amount of playing time he’s gotten

Palmieri has actually played well and hes done everything but score. Obviously he's paid to score goals so he needs to get it going but he is at least driving play at both ends of the ice. Bailey is terrible, I think he gets traded in the offseason.

The way Trotz has used Chara doesn't get enough attention from the media. The #1 reason the isles have had success in the past is because when Pelech-Pulock are on the ice, the isles are a dominant team. Not just defensively, they also drive offense extremely well and give the isles forwards more time to generate scoring chances and score goals. Trotz had to break them up so that Pulock can babysit Chara. It really is unbelievable to throw away a season just to make Chara feel comfortable.

Blues would love Mayfield. Maybe a 2nd is too much and they would have to move out Bortuzzo, but I like it.
