I like where you're going with this for sure, but I'm not sure if the oilers are willing to give up Kassian just yet, they want him for the playoffs since he has been performing really well. I think Montreal fits for him but I'm not sure if they do the deal quite yet. I think the Oilers give up a first straight up, but Canadians aren't wanting to trade assets until they find a new GM. Gorton would consider a trade but only if he and the other GM know it's a steal for Montreal. I think you see Chariot come at the deadline for a first and maybe a prospect like Benson to spice up Montreal's return.

There’s no way that Montréal would actually have Kassian play on the team after how the last time ended. They’d get him to sit at home or loan him to someone else’s AHL team before buying him out in the off-season.

On the radio they said Kassian is a big part of the team and the Oilers are not moving him.
