Trade Deadline Blockbuster EDMMON and Side Deal with BOS

Description
Now I know everyone on this site is going to think I'm crazy, but just read my explanation down below:

Priority 1 Need for Oilers - GOALTENDING: The Oilers need goaltending and they want someone who can tandem with Mike Smith for the next year in lieu of Konovalov, and Skinner while they develop. Holland's MO is older goalies who have more experience and proven playing styles (In fact tippet has openly said he prefers an older goaltender in his crease,) so Carey Price fits the needs exactly.

Now, why do you ask Montreal does the Carey Price Deal? Well, it's simple, New GM, Proven Doubts, Close to Home, and Change of Scenery. Carey Price won't have the sympathy, or attachment that Bergivan had with him with new management coming to town, all the new GM will see is a world-class goaltender that is overpaid by A LOT. Even Bergivan said by exposing Price to Seattle that his cap hit is way too high, If Montreal sits on this, that's going to sting, and besides if you trade Samorukov for 50% salary retention on that deal, that itself is worth 5 Million in instant cap relief for Montreal (When they need it bad) and you get a prospect that can slot in as soon as next year to possibly replace Chariot. Now not many realize that Price also has a Full No-Move Clause, so you ask why does he wave for Edmonton, two reasons being close to home, and contender. You have a chance at winning the Stanley again, instantly if you go to the oilers, fighting it out with smith for the number 1 netminder spot, secondly you now are close to B.C. where Price is from, it makes sense to do this because you now have time for family a bit more, and you're on a top 4 team in the NHL. Finally, Change of Scenery, Price just is coming back from the NHLPA Players Assistance Program where Price struggled with Mental Health, a Change of Scenery could be exactly what we need to see for Price to re-invent himself and become a top NHL Goalie once again.

Chariot I believe Holland is hung on a 1st round pick for, because if a deal hasn't been done yet, then I'm guessing he has told Montreal that a first is too much because a second anyone would do. Now with the price deal and the added pieces, I think Chariot is the perfect cherry on top for the Oilers and gives the Oilers a bit of bonus for sending Samorukov back as well.

Kassian to Montreal I know habs fans are just going to be distraught over, but you have to realize how well he has been playing this year, he has term left on his deal, at a bit of a higher cap hit, but also if he plays like he is playing currently, he is honestly worth more than 3.2, as an Oilers fan, I'm sad to see Kassian go because he is such a great player beloved by our fans, but in a cap world where the cap is key, you have a bit of an overpay here where if you use him to get assets you need now desperately, you can bump a couple up in the lineup to try and fill the void you leave with Kassian.

Koskinen is simply money in money out, for the oilers cap to work. Montreal gets that cap back next year so no big deal with them not being contenders, and hey Jake Allen gets a break finally!

NOW THAT THAT TRADE IS DONE, My secondary trade with Boston. And honestly the most interesting.

Now that the DeBrusk Trade Request is official and he wants to part ways with the bruins, the Oilers could use this situation as a very nifty and different perspective. Oilers will Aquire DeBrusk for a 3rd if Boston has no biters and wants to make some deadline moves and then flip him at the draft. He fills the spot Kassian left, and you can probably get a third-round pick back at the draft if you play your cards right with a lower-end team like Detriot, San Jose, or Arizona for that matter. I honestly think this could get done and with DeBrusk's cap hit the issue, he is the perfect 6-month Rental that you can re-trade at the draft if he plays well in the playoffs! If he doesn't let him walk and your good to pursue other interests.

REMEMBER: Even though I went over the cap, the cap hit is only a percentage of what it was at the start of the year, the cap hit becomes pro-rated at the deadline because most of a players salary (Price, DeBrusk, Chariot) have been paid out by their former teams. Realisticly, the cap hits of all players are:

Chariot: $875,000 (25%)
Price: $1,312,500 (25%)
DeBrusk: $918,750 (25%)

Total Estimated Intake: $12,425,000

Total Actual Pro-Rated Intake: $3,106,250 In assets (this year) which is easily manageable.

With Pro-Rated Cap, the oilers are well under the cap and can do all these moves with ease, cause 3,106,250 only hits the cap, and with Kassian, and Koskinen has gone, you can even bring back Mike Smith on the roster with ease and not have to do any fancy cap work.

Looking good Oilers, give the cup a run!

The first is the price for Chiarot. MTL isn't eating 30 mil over 5.5 years in exchange for two bad contracts, a second and a prospect who isn't highly rated.

You would have to give up a low more to get Price alone. Even though he hasn't performed well for the last few regular seasons, his value is still high. So I wouldn't even consider trading him without two first round picks. However, the price goes up if Montreal is taking back Kassian and giving away Chiarot. For that, I'd want another first and a second. Now, throw in the fact that Montreal is retaining 5 mil for the next 5 years, which is roughly a second line player, I'd ask for another first and second.

I typically enjoy reading people’s thought processes but in this case I stopped reading instantly when price was mentioned….. too much term too much money and trust his health just as much as smiths for all those reasons easy pass

Carey Price has negative value... Seattle wouldn't take him for free why would anyone in their right mind give up 2 firsts. Let alone 3 firsts plus a second with retention. He's old, inconsistent, extremely injury prone and over paid. He would need to string multiple good, injury free seasons together to be worth anything, even with retention. MTL is stuck with his contract. Kassian alone has more value. Chariot is not worth a first. Samurakov for Chariot alone is hardly fair for EDM. EDM doesn't take this deal if you take out the first and MTL sends one the other day.

Sam Bennett brought essentially 2 2nds - Debrusk will bring a hell of a lot more than a 3rd!

He's not worth 10 million. He is a 34 year old drug addict who hasnt put up a decent season the last 3/4 years.

I completely agree, I'm just saying no team is retaining 5.25 million for 5+ years. It's never happened before and it likely never will. Give me one example of a team retaining 3+ million for more than 2 years...

I'm not high on Price. He hasn't been good for awhile. But after the post-season he just had, you'd be crazy to think that multiple GMs wouldn't give up that for Price.
