Why? The guy sucks, he's AA all over again. Had a good year when he scored a bunch, now his production is terrible. And when he's not producing, he's not doing anything good. Can't/won't backcheck, won't put effort in, can't win board battles, etc. Were you impressed with him when he got walked by Cody Ceci?

And Boston has zero interest in taking him.

Take out Kassian and one of the other pieces, replace it with late pick or meh prospect we’ll talk. Kassian - won’t return your call.

I don’t think you’ve watched him too much. Yes DeBrusk isn’t a defensive mind forward or the strongest/ biggest but he has energy. His finish just hasn’t been there lately. The Covid year got to him and then he was forced down the line up when Boston got Hall.

Try watch his playoff highlights and then tell me he won’t put the effort in. Jake Gardiner still probably has nightmares from going against DeBrusk.

Sorry it’s fair to be down on him but I’m my opinion that’s a bad take.

I understand that some fans want to see hometown guys playing on the team, but I am not sure Jake Debrusk would, or should, be a target for Holland at this point. I have nothing negative to say about him, I just think Edmonton has greater needs elsewhere in its roster.

He's been called out this season for lack of effort. That's not my "take", that's Boston's own coaches making that call.

Kassian has actually been a player that teams have been calling about for years. He had an off year last year but he is a force in close games and big games. He can lay hits and score goals too and it always seems to be when the crowd is charged up and the building is electric.

i think the only way JD ends up on edmonton is if he takes way less than QO next yearon a sign and trade or he becomes a free agent due to Qo not being met and comes in for 1.5 million.

Boston won't qualify him. Likely nobody will. I'd say there's a 90% chance that he's a UFA come July.

Cool keep him, has no value to Boston

Have no idea on that. If he has his typical 20g 40p season he most certainly will get his QO, would be dumb not to. He will also decline it as he wants a long term deal. At which point can negotiate any salary.

Fair points I guess but I think there were other factors. The couple games before him being scratched the whole team didn’t look great. The team definitely wants more out of him (probably name a few players that haven’t been up to par) and wanted to shake things up a bit.

They weren’t going to scratch Marchand, probably could have scratched Hall but I think they want him to work with Coyle and discover some chemistry between them. Folingo is just coming back. So the only message that could have been sent was with DeBrusk and Haula.

DeBrusk stock is low, no doubt but I’m not that down on him. I know there doesn’t seem to be all of middle ground on here but I think it’s easy to forget the good things about Jake.
