Kings aren't interested in moving Quick. He's significantly outplaying Cal Petersen this year (along with most of the other goaltenders in the league).

How many teams are paying 2 goalies over 5 million in an essentially flat cap world? I believe LA would be the only one. Doubt they do it

I think they will actually do it. But if not, I'd move Petersen before I moved Quick at this point.

Buffalo will not trade for an ageing goalie on an expiring deal that won't re-sign in Buffalo. Matt Murray makes more sense than Quick, and that's saying something...

Okay first of all what is this comment hahaha

Secondly, I've noticed that you have now posted a LOT of Ferland and Quick acquisitions by Buffalo for next year. Can you please explain why teams want to trade these to Buffalo and why Buffalo wants to give up assets to get these pieces?

It's one of 3 2nds a year after having 3 firsts. If we don't compete, we can trade him, if we do compete he has plenty of experience

Quick is a one year commitment and anyone who has has watched Buffalo has seen what poor goaltending can do the last 2 years.

It's also to get to the cap floor and we are being paid to take Ferland, just like we were paid to take will butcher this year

    1. He will not get traded to a rebuilder. 2. Buffalo would not send any pick in the first two rounds to acquire a +30-year-old goalie on an expiring deal. 3. This is just bad

Petersen has had every opportunity to step up and take the starting job and has so far failed to do so. Blake and McLellan have both said that the starting job is Quick's until someone else takes it from him. Quick is putting up the best numbers in his career right now (including his Vezina nominated season of 2011-12). They also have Matt Villalta playing well in the AHL with top rated guys like Jacob Ingham, Lukas Parik, and David Hrenak also getting ready to make the NHL jump.

If Petersen isn't the guy, then there's no reason to try and shoehorn him in to the starting role. Better to keep Quick as the starter and bring up Villalta to see how he does. If Villalta can't hack it in the NHL either, then the Kings can look to acquire a goaltender for 2023-24 via trade or UFA.

Petersen just signed an extension with the Kings. I think you are being fooled by recency bias.

I understand that, but that doesn't mean they're going to trade their starting goaltender while he's playing the best hockey of his career. As I said previously, I don't think they'll trade either goaltender, and they'll keep the tandem together for 2022-23.

I'm just saying if they absolutely had to choose one to trade today, they'd trade Petersen over Quick.

    I can think of 3million & 500thousand reasons….
My questioning would be why @littlejerryseinfeld thinks we’d wanna spend that 3.5mil ?
Don’t think a 5th round pick moves the needle there
And if we needed to get to the floor, I’d think there’s a more economical way to do so- or at least a deal that gets us more than just a 5th
