Fiala vs DeBrusk

Created by: OutCold13

Initial Creation Date: Nov. 30, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just exploring this as a option. No doubt DeBrusks next contract is smaller then Fiala and Jake probably does bounce back.
Fiala hasn't been bad, puck just hasn't gone in. If Wild can't get a first with DeBrusk then I'm personally not interested in this deal.

then bruins would have to seriously consider this trade, Fiala has been killing it with 3rd lines id love to see what he could do with hall and coyle

Fiala is on pace for around 55pts
While that’s not too shabby, it’s also under what you’d expect from him based off the last 2 seasons

The real underwhelming stat is that he’s only on pace for just over 10goals in a full season
And that’s less than half of what he’s put up in partial seasons the last 2 years- so that’s concerning

I think the problem with moving Fiala,
is that the Wild wouldn’t be getting good value & essentially would be “selling low”
That’s almost never a good idea

Speaking as a Sabres fan,
I’d be interested in him at the right price

You are correct, but he is still playing well, frustrated, but well. If Wild wouldn't have screwed him on his contract I think he wouldn't be pressing as much and the points would come. Additionally Evason has always been harder on Fiala then any other player.

Fiala’s shooting percentage is under half his Norma career numbers, indicated bad puck luck more than anything. A change of scenery to someone like Boston he’ll be more like a 65-70 point scorer with hall and coyle.

Regardless of how he’s playing,
it’s undeniable that his production on the score sheet is down
If he is actually playing well,
then that’s just another reason Minny shouldn’t look to move him
They’d be much better off letting him just work through the situation & hope the scoring returns to normal for him

Boston should JUMP at this offer. What would be your equivalent from Edmonton?

Just watch - he will have a 3 game/5 goal stretch and a 10 goals in 12 game stretch and before you know it, be beyond his pace from recent seasons. He will end up at 65-70 points this year.

I would consider this trade only if the 1st is unprotected and I already had a trade in place for DeBrusk to bring me a 2nd rounder. Is he worth that???

You dislike DeBrusk or just more interested in the roster spot/ cap space?
IMO he is a talented player who will bounce back, but I totally get the argument that Wild need a few roster spots and more cap space.

DeBrusk is a solid player - I have nothing against him, it’s the reasons you listed that have me uninterested.
