Blues don't need another 6th or 7th defenseman. They have enough.

The Oilers would need to be sending a goalie back the other way. I have time for Varlamov but have a tough time trading for a goalie with a 0.881 sv% when our goaltending isn't currently an issue.

Was 5th, and Mike Smith was 7th. This isn't as big an upgrade as you think

Uh, what?

Smith's GSAA and xGSA are both better than Varlamovs, and his xGAR is better than both Islanders net minders. Can I ask what stats you're trying to use to justify this?

Stats? Whatever he can throw at the wall to justify the trade and "win" the argument. So far:

Vezina voting
AHL defense
Injury
Vague about dates
every single advanced metric
Huge upgrade

Very convincing!

“are”??? i said last season LMFAOO. Varlamov played hurt and didnt get a preseason. But ive never seen an xGAR for goalies. Last season Varlamov lead him in GAR, xFSV%, FSV%, dFS% and xGAR/FA. And every single other stat I have compared between the two on evolving hockey. And Smith isnt even on the first page on half of those stats. Varly was top 6 in everything i mentioned. His 5 games this season mean nothing to me when its been an AHL defense, no preseason and an injury that should only be lessened now with it being like 2 weeks since his last game

LMFAOOOOOOOO read my other comment. ill j copy and paste it here too. “I said last season LMFAOO. Varlamov played hurt and didnt get a preseason. But ive never seen an xGAR for goalies. And yes, beleive it or not playing injured, behind an AHL defense and being injured are valid excuses. and vague about dates? sorry i was just a year off of when he had a high placing in vezina votes (which dont even matter tbh). and you cannot tell me that Varlamov isnt a huge upgrade over Smith LMFAOOOOO.
