Deadline

Created by: NucksnOilers
Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 1, 2021
Published: Dec. 1, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Underpay on fluery as only 1.5 mil is retained and lavoie fits well in Chicago prospect pool

Rangers are just a place holder but the target in any young team that can contend for a 4th or a 5th

Turris only needs to play 20 games in arizona so you don't need to overpay that

Leddy is a great top 4 d with one year left on his deal (basically he is a marginally better than chariot ;) ) KK goes the other way for cap reasons, niemalien won't have a chance to play in edmonton, the first will be late (but still a first in a stacked draft so detroit will want some part of it)

I can't see Shore being traded he is a guy that is useful at all positions and good in the room. I don't think niemelainen is for sale either, this might not age well but he has been trending in positive directions in bakersfield and he could be a good shutdown defender in the future. I think they would part with lagesson if they had to though.

Yeah I needed to ship off one of shore or russell for cap reasons and russell has been with us for a while so I don't really see management letting go of him for all hes done the past 3-4 years. I could see lagesson being in that leddy trade instead thought the only reason I shipped off niemelainen was cause he has no room at all in the d-core unless our LD core gets completely shut down(like how it is right now with injuries)

No. Holland has stated many times that he will not trade a first for a rental.

Can you provide a source to this? Seems to go against his philosophy he had in Detroit.

Search up Ken Holland oilers availability, he’s stated many times that he’s not interested in trading firsts for UFAs. RFAs yes.

I did, I see articles like this.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/holland-believes-time-now-oilers-evolve-contenders/sn-amp/

Or from speculation like this
https://nhltradetalk.com/oilers-willing-to-trade-2022-first-round-pick/

Is there a specific interview where he says this or article you can point to?
