Could this work as a base

Created by: Caniac2000
Team: 2021-22 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 1, 2021
Published: Dec. 1, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is just as a base, does this make sense? Both guys are out of contract at the end of the year, yes DeBrusk is far younger, but Trocheck is far better.

I can't see CAR considering this deal at all -- Trocheck has been a perfect 2C, so I don't see them wanting to trade him when they have a real shot at the cup this year.

Sending out west to Seattle might be better.

He was great last year. He's not had the same success this year. We're at the point where our best center right now is... Jesperi Kotkaniemi. No, I'm being serious.

I’d do that from a Canes perspective

Visually, Trocheck has been very rough this season (he still has good numbers minus points), but I would like to see KK fill his role admirably before sending him off

KK has had a couple of good games, sure, but he's not your best center. He's not even top 3 on this team -- just because he's played a few good games doesn't change that. And even if Trocheck has struggled, he's still on pace for 50+ points -- what more do you want from your 2C?

Ever since KK moved to C (3 weeks ago now) he's held a steady 0.75 PPG rate and has goals in his last 3, 4 points in those games. He's been SO good since moving over, and right now, he's the best FORWARD on the team regardless. He's been SO good

You don't trade your established 2C because you have another guy that had 3 good games...

I'd argue Trocheck isn't an established 2C. Right now, Staal's displaced him. KK's been good for the last 9 and has 7 points. This is since moving to center. KK's also established himself as a capable middle six C when he was in Montreal, this isn't like it's a risk. Trocheck is not performing.

For Carolina, no it does not make sense even as a base. I hope it is just temporary you being out of your mind. You aren't one of those who can't stand success are you lol?

No, but moving Trocheck right now makes a lot of sense. Carolina won't sign a big payday long term. He's struggling and KK is ready for a bigger role. Give him a few games with Trocheck around to be sure, but this very much looks like a case of when Trocheck is moved. Especially since the Canes are sniffing around DeBrusk
