I mean if liking Messier is that much of a sore point, the Oilers love Messier and would love to have Demko. I'd bet the Oilers would pay a fortune if he were actually available.

I mean obviously it’s just a joke but yeah, Messier in Edmonton and Messier in Vancouver are two very, very different things lol.

I remember when I was living in Edmonton for school, I could not believe how revered and celebrated Messier is there. People wearing his jersey, big murals of him in the arena, people on the radio and in the paper opining for the days of Messier’s leadership 🤢. Blew my mind that anyone in the world liked him at all.

He is hated in Vancouver. If he’s in a commercial during a Canucks game there is outrage in the city. Literally all fans hate him. Some analyst compared Podkolzin to Messier once and people freaked out lol.

If you don’t live in BC then it’s hard to appreciate how poorly everyone here thinks of messier

Bingo. Hits linden when he’s down in the Stanley cup finals, then signs a stupid mega deal in Vancouver after the Canucks missed out on the Gretzky sweepstakes. Demands the C and strips it from linden, basically pushes linden out of the org. Demands number 11 despite unofficial retirement of the number. Then coasts on the ice and puts in 0 effort. THEN he sues the Canucks many years later for even more money despite being on one of the biggest contracts the Canucks had ever given at the time!
